—Description from Ultimate's Move List

Onslaught (瞬発百裂キック, Instantaneous Hundred Rending Kicks) is one of the three side special moves usable by Mii Brawlers.

Overview

In Super Smash Bros. 4

Onslaught is the Mii Brawler's default side special move in Smash 4. When used, the Brawler charges forward with their knee out, similar to Zero Suit Samus' dash attack. If the attack hits, the Mii Brawler will launch into a series of kicks that ends with an uppercut like Captain Falcon's Raptor Boost. The move can be used in midair to recover horizontally, but will cause helplessness that way. Fortunately, the dash won't send the Brawler over the ledge if they are on the ground. If Onslaught catches an opponent in midair, the Brawler will rise up a significant distance while attacking, and may or may not drag the opponent with them.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

In Ultimate, the move has an altered animation, with the Mii Brawler throwing in a mix barrage of punches and kicks, with the final blow being a backflip kick. It now does high knockback and damage when fresh, dealing 16.8% total and being capable of KOing as early as 100%. However, it has also received a new mechanic: each time Onslaught is consecutively used, it will deal less damage. It takes time until Onslaught goes back to dealing its base damage. This prevents abuse of the move, and a purple sparkle briefly appears on the Mii Brawler's shoes to signify when Onslaught's power returns to normal.

The in-game description of Onslaught is notably misleading, as it states that Onslaught does more damage the more is taken; Onslaught's base damage doesn't increase beyond 16.8% even after taking damage.

Customization

Special Move customization was added in Super Smash Bros. 4. These are the variations:

1. Onslaught 2. Burning Dropkick 3. Headache Maker

"Rush forward to deliver a flurry of kicks, and then finish with an uppercut." "A fiery dropkick with decent range. Charge it to really turn up the heat!" "Pummel your foes with a swing of your arms as you descend from a jump."

Trivia

  • In Ultimate, Onslaught's power doesn't decrease in Training Mode.
    • Curiously, however, the purple sparkle will still briefly appear on the Mii Brawler's shoes after a successful use.
