Tournament summary[edit]

After winning his last five events, including two majors, this event marked a severe underperformance from Hurt, who first lost to #65 seed Teru 1-2 (upset factor 12) before being eliminated by #34 seed MairudonaH.O 1-2 (upset factor 10) for 49th, his worst major performance since Maesuma TOP 11. #4 seed KEN also severely underperformed, losing to #61 seed Chon 0-2 (upset factor 8) and #24 seed sssr 1-2 (upset factor 5) for 33rd. A slew of other upsets also took place, including #5 seed Yamanaction losing to #12 seed Fui 2-3 and #19 seed kept 1-3 (upset factor 3) to place 13th; #6 seed Akakikusu losing to #11 seed Gorioka 0-3 and MairudonaH.O 2-3 (upset factor 6) for 17th; and #16 seed Noi losing to #208 seed Gorison 1-2 (upset factor 8) and #47 seed Kamisuke 0-2 (upset factor 3) for 49th.

On the other hand, three other players were not only able to outplace their seed, but place top 8: Fui, #15 seed Huto, and #33 seed Tameigo. In addition, Leaf, Toriguri and Gachipi were able to tie their character's best placements, with Gachipi's run being Lucario's first top 8 at a major since Umebura Japan Major 2019 as well as the first solo-Lucario top 8 at a major.

The other two top 8 seeds who were not upset, Shuton and TamaPDaifuku, were able to meet each other in Winner's Finals and Grand Finals, where TamaPDaifuku defeated Shuton 3-2 and 3-1, marking his first-ever major win, the first major win from a Bayonetta player, and the last of three new major winners in the final weekend of the LumiRank 2024.1 season.
