Kansai 2022 (or 13th Kansai) was a Super Smash Bros. superregional held in the Kansai region of Japan. The format of the tournament was best-of-1 pools (with 3 players advancing) followed by a top 18 double elimination bracket with best-of-3 matches. Wario won, beating kysk in the finals. This continued a trend of Wario beating kysk in character-locked tournaments, where the latter was unable to switch to Captain Falcon for an advantageous matchup.
It was character-locked. As with other Japanese nationals, a "B" or amateur bracket was held as well for players who finished outside top 3 in pools; the B tournament finals was between Gyaki (Link) and かまどうま (Yoshi). かまどうま won, 2-1.
