Why is this stage considered half Mario, half Smash property?

If Metal Mario is fully recognized as Mario property, why isn't his stage as well. This stage is clearly based on a level from Super Mario 64, and is not an original arena. GmanSir (talk) 15:03, 12 January 2016 (EST)
