Is a Golden Hammer's failure to open a block determined by the difficulty of the challenge or the spoiler's it contains? That is, would the Hammer fail to open "Clear the ???? event" if event 20 hasn't been unlocked, but open it after the criteria changes to "Clear the Flower Blooms in the Echoes event"? I opened a box using the hammer that said "Clear the ???" Event". I had access to events 1-20 at the time, and the event required was 37 or somewhere around there. The reward was the Song of Storms. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 14:42, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Golden Hammer origin

Maybe it would be better to mention where the item originated from at the start of the article, rather than in the "Challenges" section. I don't think it fits there. Or maybe we could create a whole new section and write very shortly and more specific what the item did in Wrecking Crew, etc. RageSmash (talk) 12:34, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

uh

ive never gotten a golden squeaky hammer... has anyone else? Kperfekt722 (talk) 03:43, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

I did. With Ganondorf. With Tingle handing out a bunch of hammers. I.GOT.PWNED. End of story. Zexas A. (talk) 03:52, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

I've gotten a Hammer before, so did my little 9 Year old Sister... She pwned me. T_T UmbreonMaster25 {talk}

Dropping it

It'll always despawn when it's dropped, right? There's no second chance like there is with the Regular Hammer? I'm pretty sure I've never seen it sitting without its podium. --Phred (talk) 23:51, 23 August 2011 (EDT)

From what I've seen, dropping it would put it in its a standing position until it hits the ground, in which is disappears. If you have a pic of it sitting without the podium, then present it. MegaTron1XD:p 00:05, 24 August 2011 (EDT)
Yes, it despawns when it hits the ground. But it is possible to grab a Golden Hammer dropped by another fighter while it's falling and use it until its timer runs out and it automatically disappears.Mariofan13 (talk)

Origin

The Mario Party 2 theory should still be mentioned as a possibility. It's perfectly viable, as the appearance and striking sounds are very similar, and the way the point of origin was written made it clear that this was unconfirmed. Calling it an original item is just as unconfirmed as the Mario Party 2 theory. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 11:59, 31 October 2012 (EDT)

Personal speculation does not belong, and your "theory" is a pretty large stretch (for one, you're linking it to a completely different item). The concept of a squeaky hammer is not unique to Mario Party. And not everything in Smash needs a damn origin.
I'll also point out headless hammers were implemented in Smash without having an origin in something else (which are the equivalent of the squeaky hammers in a functionally identical item). And in SmashWiki is not speculative, that theory clause applies to the causation of gameplay elements (i.e. glitches), with theories that are both sound and backed up by people knowledgeable on the subject. Do not misinterpret it as being alright to add personal speculation about origins and the like. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 13:26, 31 October 2012 (EDT)
In addition to what Omega Tyrant says, a good metric to determine the level of speculation in your claim is if it contains the phrase "some believe". I may even propose a policy against weasel words in articles, as they are very counter-encyclopedic. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 19:59, 31 October 2012 (EDT)

About Wrecking Crew

Should we move this to the Wrecking Crew universe, or just keep it as a Mario property? Laniv (talk) 13:43, 24 October 2014 (EDT)

I think we should wait until the game is released. For now, keep it as a Mario property. Tepig (talk) 14:25, 24 October 2014 (EDT)
