Merge?
Hi Aidan, me and Son Daniel have decided to merge these two pages according to this discussion? Thanks. S3AHAWK (talk) 15:00, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
- You don't need my permission to do that, it's a userpage, you can do whatever you want. Just let me know which one the two of you want deleted, and I can do that. Aidan, the Rurouni 15:01, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
Mario, Peach, Wario, and Waluigi cameos in this video ------> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-DsOVUYxXw
Hi Aiden, I am curious as Nintendo Just released this video and at 2 minutes and 34 seconds, Mario, Peach, Wario, and Waluigi appear as a cameo in this game. Can we wait until June 5 til the game is released to count these as cameos because the Nintendo Direct mini from March doesn't show these characters. Thanks. S3AHAWK (talk) 16:11, May 18, 2020 (EDT)
- Since the game's not out yet, then yes, we should wait. Aidan, the Rurouni 16:13, May 18, 2020 (EDT)
- Makes sense, but since I'm not buying the game (because i got xenoblade for my june game) I found more cameos in video reviews.S3AHAWK said ketchup won 15:02, June 3, 2020 (EDT)
This vergeben leaks page ----->[1]
Hi Aidan, sorry for bugging you for the third time in a row, but I see this vegeben leaks page and there is an official vergeben leaks page. Can we tag this for deletion right now or wait until they are unblocked? S3AHAWK (talk) 16:31, May 21, 2020 (EDT)
Names
Um, someone is putting in names for the attacks of Mario’s Melee moveset. Is it bad? SonDaniel (talk page) 01:16, May 27, 2020 (EDT)
- It is, we don't take fanmade move names or moves from Prima guides. Aidan, the Rurouni 01:18, May 27, 2020 (EDT)
- Then where do we get the name of attacks, excluding special moves? SonDaniel (talk page) 01:19, May 27, 2020 (EDT)
- From official sources (i.e., if they're named by Sakurai in a Direct or, as of Ultimate, in-game). Aidan, the Rurouni 01:20, May 27, 2020 (EDT)

NinTylo's block
While I undestand he is disreguarding the rules, there are a few alarming things that concernes me reguarding his block. His infinite block right when he got back after 6 months, especially without warning is imo overboard and, for the lack of a better term, abusive for an admin. He may be disregarding the rules continuously, but he's still trying to do good faith, and I've seen repeat vandals blocked less than hin. As the blocking guidelines state:
- "Indefinite blocks (more commonly known as infinite blocks or permabans) are used in cases where a user has been deemed "a lost cause", with no chance of being a useful contributor in the future. This generally results from repeated blatant disregard for policy"
Reguardless he is not intentionally breaking the rules but still trying to be a good faith user and has made useful contributions, just doing things the wrong way. I also was concerned about his initial 6 month block but was somewhat afraid to bring it up to an admin back then, though now I feel I should bring up something that makes me believe that you may have blocked him out of anger. This is in no way asking for a reduce in his block but something rather concerning I needed to bring up. OmegαToαd64 • the Best Kαrter 21:43, May 29, 2020 (EDT)
- See, here's the thing.
- Maybe I'm just a little fed up today. That is a thing that can happen. A lot of things have been happening that I will not delve into right now. However, I did let out a lot of that aggression earlier today, so I'm not one to immediately believe it was a trigger finger easily going off.
- The fact of the matter is, there's a lot of stuff that needs to be taken into consideration here. We tried giving him warnings before, and to immediately go against the warnings and go right back to what he was doing showed nothing more than a simple refusal to learn. Separate from the wiki are also several emails I received from NinTylo, asking for an unblock out of sheer boredom, which further cemented an entire missing of the point of being blocked.
- I don't use permabans often. But if a six month block did nothing, then anything less than infinite wouldn't have done anything either. I'd also like to point out that this exists, which has been used on at least two separate occasions in the past (even prior to its creation). Aidan, the Rurouni 21:55, May 29, 2020 (EDT)
- I will say I didn't know about the emails (and to be fair I forgot you can send emails since I never set one here for privacy reasons), but yeah it shows he obviously doesn't know the purpose of a block. Anyway I was just concerned because it seemed so sudden because he just got unblocked, but now I see it was justified knowing more about it. Thanks for the clarification OmegαToαd64 • the Best Kαrter 22:33, May 29, 2020 (EDT)
how to remove spam and who can remove spam on talk pages
Hi Aidan, I am curious on removing spam on talk pages in the future. 1)how do you do it and 2)who can do it? I just want some advice. Thanks S3AHAWK said ketchup won 02:03, June 10, 2020 (EDT)
- I am pretty sure everyone can remove spam since I have seen OmegaToad using something like <spam removed> for IP spam (I don't think it is necessary to say that tho) on talk pages. But I do believe directly removing them with undo/rollback is fine. Naughty🐽GRAND DAD 自閉肥宅 02:22, June 10, 2020 (EDT)
Glitch? on Template:UpdateList (SSBU)/7.0.0
For some reason, my post on that template cannot be displayed correctly. My post is *{{bug|Created a [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF3nwJFQ4VE visual glitch] where Bayonetta's clothes do not disappear during her smash attacks after being hit by another smash attack.}}, but only the {{bug}} part is shown on Bayonetta (SSBU). What happened here?--Raffina H.-207 (talk) 18:30, June 12, 2020 (EDT)
- Oh, yea, those templates hate YouTube links. Do it like this:
*{{bug|Created a visual glitch where Bayonetta's clothes do not disappear during her smash attacks after being hit by another smash attack.}}<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF3nwJFQ4VE</ref>
- That should fix the issue. Aidan, the Rurouni 18:33, June 12, 2020 (EDT)
- Edit: As I wrote this, Porplemontage appears to have fixed the issue in a better way. Aidan, the Rurouni 18:37, June 12, 2020 (EDT)
- I am far late on this, but the reason this happens is because the URL for the youtube video has an "=" sign in it, which wikimedia is taking as a setting of a parameter. To get around this, you simply use the numbered parameter format ({{template:1=content}}). This works for all templates. I am hoping that this explanation can help someone in the future. About SSBU hitbox sub-pages
(This was MEMEBOI08S first question) I want to contribute by using Microsoft Paint to make drawings I will work hard on despite it being bad to show what the hitboxes would look like if the ___ (for example Mario’s fireball) was not missing but the page is protected from vandalism and I just joined pls help MEMEBOI08 (talk) 02:07, June 19, 2020 (EDT)
- ...the hitbox subpages are created using much more technical stuff than Microsoft Paint. I'm not the guy to talk to about this, seeing as how I don't have those tools readily available to me, but I will tell you that doing that isn't going to be what we're after. Aidan, the Rurouni 02:15, June 19, 2020 (EDT)
- All of the hitbox pages are semi-protected so that only autoconfirmed users may edit them. You must first have over 10 edits and have joined for 7 days before becoming autoconfirmed.
- As for the drawings, a drawing of a hitbox would still require a visual of the actual hitbox for it to be illustrated accurately, at which point you could simply upload the visual that you're basing the drawing off of. Doing so with no reference to how the hitbox functions, or even looks like, would fall under speculation, which we do not allow.
- Also, if you have any general questions about the wiki that wouldn't need the involvement of an administrator, I recommend you post it in the help desk instead. Nokii — 02:36, June 19, 2020 (EDT)

- Well, first off, sign your comments with ~~~~. It helps keep track of things on talk pages.
- Secondly, that's not how you do that. If you want people to add something, mark it with something like {{image}}, or put it in the talk page. Don't directly put it on the page itself.
- Hope this helps. Aidan, the Rurouni 16:23, June 28, 2020 (EDT)
Question
Hi... so I'm back now (and still a bit nervous about coming back) but I do have a question. On here there are a lot of red links so I was wondering, despite being an archive would it be fine for me to edit just to remove the red links so that they don't show up in wanted pages? Omegα Toαd 02:02, July 4, 2020 (EDT)
- That should be fine? I think that's an exception to the "don't edit archives" rule. I may be wrong. Aidan, the Rurouni 02:04, July 4, 2020 (EDT)
Cinnpie's placement at Smash N Splash 5
Hello, I noticed Cinnpie's placement at Smash N Splash 5 wasn't filled, so I searched, and through a lot of scrolling, found her at 1953rd ^^ you can verify it on the Smash.gg for SNS5 by doing a ctrl+F search on page 63 of the standings ^^ The page is protected, so I can't edit it myself, hope an admin can do it for me, that's why I'm messaging here ^^ Thanks by advance [2] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eizzah (talk • contribs) 13:21, July 8, 2020 (EDT)
- I don't think that placement is accurate. SNS 5 only had around 1,600 entrants. Taking a quick look at her profile, it doesn't seem like she actually participated since she only "fought" 1 match which doesn't even exist. CookiesCreme 15:08, July 8, 2020 (EDT)

@Aidanzapunk: This passed, but I guess no one got around to implementing it? I'd like to create Hax's Harem. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 00:19, August 15, 2020 (EDT)
- As far as I know, Hax's Harem isn't even an actual crew like a team crew. They only made an appearance as a crewbattle at Shine 2019 and is moreso a crewbattle crew than a team crew, which we don't create pages for.
- Also, you need to be autoconfirmed (7 days, 10 edits) in order to create pages. CookiesCreme 05:31, August 15, 2020 (EDT)
- To answer the initial question, that proposal is over four years old, and things have not stayed the same since. Page creation is restricted to autoconfirmed to prevent spam and nonsense pages from being created. Aidan, the Rurouni 12:52, August 15, 2020 (EDT)
- Could you update the forum page to reflect as much? Just seems confusing otherwise. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 00:04, August 16, 2020 (EDT)
- @Cookies and Creme: If there is a distinction, then I think an update to Crew is an order to explain it. I just saw Slox tweeted about it and added it to the articles. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, I knew that about Autoconfirmed on a technical level because I already checked Special:ListGroupRights before I inquired about it here. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 00:04, August 16, 2020 (EDT)- Given the fact that:
- The forum is four years old and next to no one would go searching for it,
- We have a policy in place that prevents me (and others) from editing archived discussions and forums, and
- We have a page directly explaining that you cannot create a new article without being autoconfirmed,
- I see no reason to update the forum page. Aidan, the Rurouni 00:12, August 16, 2020 (EDT)

File:Mario Cheer JP Melee.ogg
Hi, you recently deleted the file "File:Mario Cheer JP Melee.ogg" for being duplicate, but this file was in use on Mario (SSBM), which now has a broken file link. I can't see what file it was a duplicate of, so could you please link to the correct file on said article? Alex the Weeb 05:11, October 1, 2020 (EDT)
- Upon further inspection, it appears that the file isn't duplicate, but simply appears to sound the same as the english version. However all our fighter articles list both versions, which is handled by a template, and thus both versions are needed. Alex the Weeb 05:25, October 1, 2020 (EDT)

Which SSB4/Ultimate Rob default is prioritized on this wiki
On the Ultimate character table, all of the infoboxes, and some tables on pages such as Fighter and Dash prioritize the NES colors, while the SSB4 character table, all of the alternate costume pages, and other pages such as Walk prioritize the Famicom colors. Which one is it? Right now, both are being prioritized on different parts. Is it NES because this is and English wiki and therefore most people would know that as the default in SSB4 and Ultimate, or is it the Famicom colors because the Japanese version is the original? 99.203.10.81 22:29, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
- ...That is perplexing. It's been my understanding that, as this is a Japanese game first, the Famicom color takes priority, though I am not 100% sure on that statement. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 22:31, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
- Generally we use the "true" first colour, which for R.O.B. is the Famicom one. Although for the numerical data tables like the dash/walk speed pages I think the actual correct usage is "no head icons". Toomai Glittershine The Rainbow 23:16, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
Interwiki links
So I've noticed that you tend to use "iw" for interwiki links rather than "s" (To give an example for those who don't know what I'm talking about: {{iw|nonexistentwiki|Non-Existent Page}}
instead of {{s|nonexistentwiki|Non-Existent Page}}
).
Is there something I'm missing? Because using "s" seems to work just as fine (not to mention it reduces any unneeded bytes). SuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle Tribe 18:51, October 15, 2020 (EDT)
{{s|wikiname|wikipage}}
gives a specific page;{{iw|wikiname|wikipage|specification}}
links to specific pages like this one to save on space and skipping over the general page. I only ever use iw for a page with parentheses; I use s otherwise. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 18:56, October 15, 2020 (EDT)- Let's test that out, shall we:
- Here's a link to the arcade Punch-Out!! game with the "s": Punch-Out!!
- Now here's the same link, but with the "iw": Punch-Out!!
- Now let's test it again, but this time without specifying which page we want to link it to:
- With the "s": Punch-Out!!
- With the "iw": Punch-Out!!
- So far with both tests, they seem to be functioning the exact same and I'm not seeing any differences between the two (aside from the extra byte from "iw"). Perhaps you were using a poor example or you didn't explain well enough. SuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle Tribe 19:05, October 15, 2020 (EDT)
- ...since when does s have a third parameter? Hmm. Guess I missed something. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 19:06, October 15, 2020 (EDT)
- Let's test that out, shall we:
{{s}} was never supposed to have a specifying parameter, because this defeats its purpose of being a simple link to pages in other namespaces. People using {{s}} when they should be using {{iw}} is what's caused its continuing "abuse" as somewhat of a duplicate template of {{iw}}. In addition, conflating the two like this means that if in future we want (or need) to do something different between namespace links and interwiki links (e.g. a hidden HTML property), it'll be a huge mess of manual fixing. Even if they happen to have the same syntax, they should be used appropriately, not as each other. Toomai Glittershine The Golden 19:20, October 15, 2020 (EDT)

What constitutes a minor glitch?
I have been directed to you as the person that requested the deletion of the Min Min T-Pose glitch. The reason you gave for the deletion of my article is that we don't need one for every minor glitch. The issue is that I don't believe that is a minor glitch. It is a consistently repeatable glitch that has the capability to soft lock the game if the players are not careful. I think the issue is that there is no clear difference between major and minor glitch explained anywhere on this site. The closest thing I can find is that minor glitches have small amounts of information and have been patched out. If that is the case, then there are other patched out glitches that have little information, such as the buster wolf freeze glitch, that still have articles up without issue. What this site needs is a dedicated section that clearly explains the criteria to be a major or minor glitch. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Other Jared (talk • contribs) 17:26, November 8, 2020 (EST)
- I was the person who deleted the page, though I was not the person who requested the deletion to begin with; that would be this guy. I only acted on the deletion as pages marked under speedy delete are to be deleted quicker than other pages.
- Though I am not the person who requested its deletion, I can still answer the question of "why delete it when others are still up?", and the answer is simple: this site has a collection of pages that should be deleted (I don't know why the Buster Wolf glitch is still up, for instance), because minor glitches that have small amounts of information and have since been patched out should not have pages. The problem is that no one ever gets around to deleting them. That's not to say the administrative staff is lazy, we just have other stuff around the whole of the wiki to worry about.

Dracula phase 2 image
I've been going through the images for spirits and making the filenames follow a pattern, however in the process I renamed the file for Dracula's phase 2 because it was being used for both the boss and spirit art. I wanted to split them, but because I already moved the file I can't simply upload the boss image to the old name (I get a message saying it already exists). Is there a way to fix this? --CanvasK (talk) 12:39, December 2, 2020 (EST)
- I think the issue is because of the file redirect still existing; there are a few pages that still link to the redirect, however, so those will need to be taken care of first (unless those pages are the very ones you want to use for this new file itself). Aidan, the Festive Rurouni 12:44, December 2, 2020 (EST)
- Most of those pages refer to the boss, so they would keep the old file name (Dracula Phase 2 SSBU). Most pages have already been edited for the new file name (SSBU spirit Dracula (2nd Form)), though my script may have changed some proper uses of the boss file name. --CanvasK (talk) 12:49, December 2, 2020 (EST)
- In that case, I went ahead and deleted the redirect. You should be good now. It may give you another error message saying "this file, under this exact name, previously existed", but I usually just ignore that. Aidan, the Festive Rurouni 12:59, December 2, 2020 (EST)

(reset indent)If I can send a txt file and have it loaded into a delete-o-matic that'd be cool. I'd rather avoid another 1450 edits clogging Recent Changes (and then another 1450 for deletions), but if that would make it easier/faster on your all's end then I don't mind. Or perhaps a txt file can be given to XL to tag and not spam Recent Changes? --CanvasK (talk) 14:58, December 11, 2020 (EST)
- Unfortunately, there is no real "delete-o-matic" (at least, to my knowledge), but maybe XL can be the one to put them into speedy delete. How many, exactly, are there? Aidan, the Festive Rurouni 15:02, December 11, 2020 (EST)
- About one for every spirit. Excluding the ones already deleted 1,409. --CanvasK (talk) 15:04, December 11, 2020 (EST)
- I am wondering if it's truly necessary to delete most of those redirects. Redirects are generally harmless; they only true reason to delete them (in my opinion) is for being actively wrong or confusing. True, we might not particularly want them to be picked up again, but since a template is handling things now, I would expect the odds of that to be low.
- But for now, send that list through e-mail or slap it into a pastebin. I generally don't allow bots to have deletion powers because I know at least one non-admin here has a bot, but for a one-time blast it might be doable. Toomai Glittershine The Yellow 07:26, December 12, 2020 (EST)
- If it is decided that they not be deleted that is fine by me. One argument for deletion is if someone wants to use that file name, let's say "Andy Bogard.png". They'll have to go with a different name (such as add "1" like I've seen with the spirit files) or ask for the redirect to be deleted. An argument against it is it may be linked to by another wiki or else where; I've seen cases where we link to a Mario Wiki image and it has been moved with no redirect.
- Here's the pastebin (I gave it a limit of 6 months for whatever reason). I could see only the files that don't mention spirits being deleted since those are more likely to conflict. Thank you, both, for your time. --CanvasK (talk) 08:26, December 12, 2020 (EST)
- At least for me personally, if a wiki page links to a file on another wiki, but the page no longer exists, I'd change the link on the first wiki to be updated as well. I definitely wouldn't catch it immediately, but still. Aidan, the Festive Rurouni 12:27, December 12, 2020 (EST)

"what English voice?"
I believe what whoever added that was talking about is Mark Hildreth, who voiced Terry in the anime adaptations of Fatal Fury.
That being said, those're the only pieces of media (as far as I'm aware) in which Terry had an English dub voice actor, as all of his voice performances in the games were done by Japanese voice actors, so I don't think it needs to be pointed out, anyway.
Still, just thought I'd let you know this. SuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle Tribe 22:14, December 15, 2020 (EST)
- Oh, I knew there was at least an English voice in the anime(s), lol. I even looked on the SNK wiki to make sure I wasn't crazy and even found references to live action actors, but my intent was to specifically refer to in-game stuff. Aidan, the Festive Rurouni 22:16, December 15, 2020 (EST)
Regarding your revert of my last edit
I've decided to check the Sound Test in Ultimate to see if you were right, and as it turns out, the "Series" was added to the "FINAL FANTASY VII" section, which I am 100% certain was not there before the update came out (I do know that at least during the Music section of the August 2018 Direct, it flat out shows it as "FINAL FANTASY VII" without the "Series" in the Sound Test). Question
If I want to delete my discord account and create a new one is that possible? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Omega Toad (talk • contribs) 18:09, December 22, 2020 (EST)
- Im not aidan but Here is a article to delete a discord account on desktop S3AHAWK The Festive One 19:50, December 22, 2020 (EST)
- Alright so apparently I need to wait 14 days to create a new account since its not fully deleted till then and I need to set an email address when using the online version, which mine apparently is still considered registered until the full deletion unless there's a faster way to fully delete it. Trophy image donation
Hey there, I'm just writing here because I don't see a place to directly message somebody, and I picked you from the list of admins because you support Professor Layton for Smash.
I'm a trainee staff member at Zelda Wiki and recently started to capture images of SSB4-3DS Trophies in higher resolution. After doing most of the Zelda-related ones, I decided to go for the main Fighter Trophies and offer them to SmashWiki. I didn't want to upload them myself since I'm not planning to stick around here, plus I don't know your policies on keeping various types of images. For example, at Zelda Wiki, we would classify those 128x128 Trophy thumbnails as either sprites due to their in-game usage, or as renders since they're officially-produced images of a game's 3D models, while the images I've collected are models captured from their in-game appearance. In other words, I just wanted to pawn off these files and let you guys do with them as you wish.
Anyway, I've been posting them in batches of .zip files in your Discord's #general channel, because that appeared to be the closest thing to a wiki-related channel, but I'm afraid they may have gone unnoticed. If you can't find them on there, then please let me know how else I could send them. The batches contain some contact info and basic technical details. I hope you find them useful. - You can always DM one of the admins through Discord, though to get the attention of them on-wiki would be through a talk page.
- The images probably went unnoticed because of the fact that we do, in fact, have a wiki-specific channel on Discord; it's just restricted to those who are actually confirmed to be users on the wiki and aren't just there for shits and giggles. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the images we currently have are actually sprite rips; these images could be useful, since they're essentially full-on model rips.
- Layton would be perfect for Smash. Things aren't looking too bright for Level-5, though, if you ask me. But I'd be fine with even just a spirit, at this rate. Aidan, the Rurouni 20:45, January 11, 2021 (EST)
- I'm quite sure your current 3DS Trophy images are sprite rips, since they're all the same resolution. All the ones we had on Zelda Wiki were sourced from SmashWiki, which is why I thought to share my new ones. If you'd like more from the Zelda series, most of them are available here, though we're fixing up that page and our templates may throw some broken links. HelpTheWretched (talk) 14:38, January 12, 2021 (EST)
- I realize that this is a daunting task to ask of one individual (assuming you're the only one ripping these models from the game), but I brought this up with the other administrators, who agree that, if we're replacing files, this should be an all or nothing situation; do you think getting all of the trophies like this would be at all possible? Aidan, the Rurouni 14:40, January 12, 2021 (EST)
- Unfortunately that won't happen, which is why I stuck to just Fighter Trophies initially. Many of them are easy and quick, but the ones with partial transparency require an exhaustive process of taking screenshots in layers and reconstructing them; some would be even harder due to rendering errors in the game. I understand the all-or-nothing approach and I'd really like to be able to do more, so I'll consider any specific requests outside of the Fighter category. HelpTheWretched (talk) 16:51, January 12, 2021 (EST)
- I've uploaded batch 4 to Discord #general. The text file mentions the fate of the final few Fighter Trophies; in short, "I'll try" for two of them, and "Not likely" for the third. Hopefully yourself and the other administrators find a way to use these images, but if not, I had a good time making them. HelpTheWretched (talk) 20:54, January 16, 2021 (EST)

Request for merging of two pages' histories

Smash is what type of Wiki?
I was curious what type of Wiki is the SSBWiki? Is it a Gamepedia type of Wiki or something else? Wolff (talk) 04:48, January 22, 2021 (EST)

A userbox question
When someone else adds your own userbox to their userbox collection, do you need permission from that person to remove your own userbox from their collection? SuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle Tribe 18:24, February 3, 2021 (EST)
- I would see it more as "hey, can you please remove my userbox" rather than "can I remove it for you", personally. What seems to be the issue, if I may ask? Aidan, the Lovely Rurouni 18:27, February 3, 2021 (EST)
