Koffing (ドガース, Dogars) is a Pokémon.
Origin
Koffing is a Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #109 as the "Poison Gas Pokémon". It is essentially a balloon filled with poisonous gases which it uses in battle, and is also prone to exploding. It evolves into Weezing at level 35. It is somewhat notable for being James's partner Pokémon in the early episodes of the Pokémon animated series, as well as being used in the games by several members of Team Rocket.
Smog is a Poison-type move which Koffing learns at early levels: while very weak (30 base power, 20 prior to Generation VI) it has a 40% chance of inflicting the Poison status to the target.
Poison Gas is a Poison-type move which Koffing always knows from the start and whose only effect is inflicting the Poison status if it hits.
Smokescreen is a Normal-type move which Koffing can learn by leveling up. When successful, it lowers the target's accuracy by one stage.
In Super Smash Bros.
As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Koffing attacks with Smog, releasing gas from the pores on its body. Any character but the summoner who touches the gas will take damage, and, if very close to Koffing, they will be trapped until it disappears.
In Super Smash Bros. Melee
Koffing no longer appears as a Poké Ball, being replaced in function by its evolved form Weezing. However, Koffing is mentioned in the description of Weezing's trophy.
In Super Smash Bros. 4
In Smash Run
Koffing appears as an enemy in Smash Run, behaving similar to its old role as a Poké Ball assist. It attacks by using Poison Gas, releasing poisonous clouds which reduce the player's stats on contact. Occasionally, it will float over to the player after a random period of time. Otherwise, it will just fly away if left alone long enough.
In Smash Tour
Koffing appears as a random event in Smash Tour. It uses Smokescreen, hiding the board for one turn with a thick cloud of purple smoke.
Trophy
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Koffing's trophy is random, but in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U it has to be acquired by completing the full solo All-Star Mode with Jigglypuff within six minutes.
- Koffing
- This Poison-type Pokémon's balloon-like body is filled with toxic gases. In Smash Run, it floats over to fighters and expels gas at regular intervals. If the gas touches you, the stats you've worked so hard to build will drop! Attack while it's deflated to take it down safely, and then help yourself to the many, many items it leaves behind.
- A Poison-type Pokémon that looks somewhat like a blown-up balloon. As you might be able to guess, though, it's not filled with fresh air - that's poison gas, and this Pokémon isn't shy about sharing. In Smash Tour, the gas it spews will hide spaces and any items that may be on them. The smoke should disappear by the end of the turn.

Trivia
- Koffing is one of two Poké Ball Pokémon to be replaced by a member of their evolution-line in later installments, instead of by another Pokémon that uses the same move, with the other being Starmie.
- Koffing is the only Poké Ball Pokémon to have become an enemy, though it does not appear as both in the same game.
- When in Smash Tour, the game states "A wild Koffing appeared!", a homage to the wild Pokémon encounter message shown in the Pokémon games.
