Mario

  •   Mario is more expressive and has new voice clips.
  •   Up tilt now makes Mario jump up slightly, making it more difficult to combo with.
  •   Neutral aerial comes out slightly slower, reducing its combo ability.
  •   Up aerial deals more knockback, reducing its ability to rack up damage.
  •   Up aerial consistently deals 5% damage.
  •   Standing and pivot grab startup: 5/7 frames → 7/9 frames
  •   Down throw launches opponents at a less favorable angle.
  •   Holding down the special button to use Fireball will now produce a stronger but less ranged Hammer.
  •   Cape has one more frame of startup.
  •   Final Smash is now Mega Mario, which causes Mario to briefly grow giant, launching opponents he steps on.

Luigi

  •   Up and down tilts launch opponents at a less favorable angle.
  •   New neutral aerial, which resembles the lost life animation from Super Mario Bros., has more range.
  •   New neutral aerial is slightly weaker.
  •   Old neutral aerial moved to forward aerial.
  •   Grab, pummel, and throws modified to utilize the Poltergust.
  •   Neutral special now involves Luigi shining a flashlight on opponents, paralyzing them more the closer they are to him.
  •   Up special now uses the Propeller Mushroom, granting Luigi a slower fall and more horizontal range.
  •   Up special no longer does damage.

Bowser

  •   Bowser has his voice actor from the Mario games.
  •   Bowser's first jump is slightly higher.
  •   Air speed: 1.0 → 1.05
  •   Bowser's rolls generally have more invincibility.
  •   Up smash is faster at the cost of being weaker.
  •   Forward air landing lag: 24 frames → 17 frames
  •   Back air landing lag: 40 frames → 27 frames
  •   Up air landing lag: 28 frames → 19 frames
  •   Down air damage: 16% → 16.5%
  •   Bowser's Final Smash now uses Meowser. The buffs to attacks and increase in size are much more minor, but a second Meowser exists.

Peach

  •   Second four costumes change Peach's parasol to Perry.
  •   Forward air knockback decreased.
  •   Neutral special changed to Rage from Super Princess Peach, which has high range but leaves Peach vulnerable.
  •   Down special changed to Calm, which heals Peach at the cost of vulnerability.
  •   Final Smash changed to Joy, briefly allowing Peach to move and rise freely in the air while surrounding her with a powerful tornado.

Donkey Kong

  •   Arcade DK is a new alternate costume, which has victory poses and an entrance animation that run at 15 FPS.
  •   Now has his voice from the Donkey Kong Country games.
  •   Weight: 122 → 119
  •   Air acceleration: 0.05 → 0.053
  •   Final Smash is now the rapid-hits that can be performed on bosses in the newer Donkey Kong Country games.

Diddy Kong

  •   Diddy Kong is voiced by his usual voice actor.
  •   Midair jump height decreased.
  •   Forward tilt has less reach.
  •   Forward smash is easier to hit with both times.
  •   Up aerial deals less knockback.
  •   Monkey Flip travels less distance and is weaker.
  •   Rocketbarrel Boost is less steerable.
  •   Banana Peel has slightly more endlag.

Dixie Kong

Dixie Kong (Donkey Kong universe)
Special Attack Name Description
Neutral Special Bubblegum Popgun Similar to Peanut Popgun, but applies a unique Bubblegum effect, turning opponents pink and holding them in place with the pose for being frozen.
Up Special Ponytail Spin Dixie Kong spins her ponytail, gaining altitude and decreasing her falling speed.
Down Special Guitar Dixie Kong strums on an electric guitar, pushing opponents back.
Side Special Ponytail Rush Dixie Kong spins her ponytail and rushes forward, tossing nearby opponents upwards.
Final Smash Kong Pow Opponents are knocked up in the air and healing items are spawned in their former location.
Notes: Not a Diddy Kong clone. Dixie Kong only shares Gumball Popgun, neutral aerial, and up throw with him.
Most of Dixie Kong's standard attacks use her hair.

  •   Running speed: 1.3944 → 1.5
  •   Walking speed: 1.188 → 1.185
  •   Air speed: 1.88 → 1.95
  •   Falling speed: 1.6 → 1.66
  •   Startup of dash attack decreased.
  •   Final Smash is now Triforce of Courage, which increases Link's speed and decreases startup of special moves temporarily.

Zelda

  •   Zelda dashes much faster (1.3 → 1.5).
  •   Zelda walks faster (0.87 → 0.99).
  •   Zelda's air speed is slightly faster (1.04 → 1.09).
  •   Zelda falls faster (1.35 → 1.45).
  •   Down smash does more damage.
  •   Din's Flare no longer puts Zelda into special fall and goes less far when uncharged, leaving Zelda less open after using the attack.
  •   Din's Flare goes slightly less far when fully charged.

Sheik

  •   Fall speed: 1.75 → 1.65
  •   Forward aerial has slightly more endlag.
  •   Up aerial deals less knockback and has more startup.
  •   Needle Storm has less range and lacks transcendent priority.
  •   Burst Grenade no longer puts Sheik into special fall.
  •   Vanish damage: 12%/5% → 8%/4%
  •   Bouncing Fish covers considerably less horizontal distance.

Ganondorf

  •   Air speed: 0.79 → 0.9
  •   New up and down smashes added that use the Wind Waker swords.
  •   Side smash now uses Ganondorf's Twighlight Princess sword and is slightly slower.
  •   Down aerial now uses the classic trident, comes out much faster, and has slightly more range.
  •   Pummel damage: 3% → 4%
  •   Knockback of forward and back throws increased.
  •   Neutral special now involves the energy ball from Ocarina of Time, giving him a projectile that has very little startup compared to Warlock Punch.
  •   Trajectory of up special can be angled slightly.
  •   Down special is Dead Man's Volley, a reflecting move that has significant endlag but can be held indefinitely like Fox's reflector.

Samus

  •   Fusion Suit is a new alternate costume.
  •   Samus is slightly shorter.
  •   Weight: 108 → 110
  •   Forward tilt, up tilt, and dash attack have transcendent priority.

Zero Suit Samus

  •   Jump height decreased.
  •   Forward air knockback decreased.
  •   Back air damage: 12%/10% → 10%/9%
  •   Paralyzer takes longer to charge.

Yoshi

  •   Weight: 104 → 98
  •   Dash speed: 1.86 → 1.81
  •   Egg Lay requires 65% of the usual time to break out of while in midair.
  •   The B button can now be held during Egg Throw to stall the throw; This allows more precise targeting at the cost of the vertical boost.
  •   Down air damage reduced by ~9% overall and is somewhat slower.

Kirby

  •   Down tilt is now a sliding attack.
  •   Air speed: 0.8 → 0.95
  •   Up tilt now causes Kirby to summon a tall beanstalk, increasing the attack's range significantly.
  •   Dash attack is faster.
  •   Down smash now involves Kirby ringing two bells.
  •   Kirby now pummels opponents with a beach ball for his down throw, recalling his Circus ability from Triple Deluxe.
  •   Kirby's copy abilities now use his opponent's most well-known special move as opposed to simply their neutral special (for example, Link's copy ability grants Kirby Spin Attack as a neutral special).
  •   Final Smash is now Hypernova Kirby, an OHKO for opponents that get trapped in Kirby's automatic Inhale.

King Dedede

  •   Face slightly altered to resemble modern appearance further.
  •   Air speed: 0.63 → 0.8
  •   Height of jumps 4 and 5 increased.

King Dedede's moveset is already perfect

  •   Down and up tilts are faster overall.
  •   Forward tilt has slightly less endlag.
  •   Dash attack has slightly less startup.
  •   All grabs have slightly more range.
  •   Inhale has more range.

Meta Knight

  •   Design somewhat simplified to resemble Planet Robobot appearance.
  •   Attacks generally have low hitstun multipliers, moreso than virtually any other character.
  •   Midair jump height increased.

Fox

  •   Now based on Star Fox Zero appearance.
  •   Walk speed: 1.45 → 1.4
  •   Fall speed decreased slightly.
  •   Jab knockback slightly increased.
  •   Up smash damage: 16%/11% → 13%/12%
  •   Up air knockback decreased.

Falco

  •   Now based on Star Fox Zero appearance.
  •   Fall speed: 1.8 → 1.65
  •   Air speed: 0.96 → 1.05
  •   Back air has more range.
  •   Blaster can be fired more rapidly.
  •   Up special renamed Takeoff and has a windbox at the cost of dealing damage.
  •   Final Smash now uses an Arwing and is more similar to Super Dragon in function.

Pikachu

  •   Jump height increased.
  •   Quick Attack has been repurposed as a short, horizontal dash attack.
  •   Skull Bash can now be angled for vertical recovery.
  •   Thunder input: Down special → Up special
  •   Down special is now Tail Whip, which temporarily increases the damage that nearby opponents take.

Jigglypuff

  •   Jigglypuff has new voice clips.
  •   Walk speed: 0.7 → 0.8
  •   Dash speed: 1.155 → 1.35
  •   Forward throw launches at a more favorable angle for combos.
  •   Forward smash has less endlag.
  •   Sing has less lag and cannot be countered.
  •   Rest KO's earlier (at 50% to a character with a weight of 100.
  •   Final Smash is now Moonblast, which covers the screen and weakens opponents' attacks while it is active, but has weak knockback.

Mewtwo

  •   Mewtwo has an English voice actor.
  •   Weight: 74 → 76
  •   Running speed reduced to 1.85.
  •   Walking speed reduced to 1.15.
  •   Forward smash range increased.
  •   Down special has less endlag and knockback, making it more reliable as a combo throw.
  •   Two custom down specials added: Me First, which temporarily gives all of Mewtwo's attacks transcendent priority, and Mist, an attack that surrounds Mewtwo in an icy aura.

Lucario

  •   Aura progresses more rapidly, reaching Smash 4's 75% values at 55%, but is capped at 110%.
  •   Forward smash and down smash have significantly less startup.
  •   Force Palm now lacks the aura effect and uses its GFX from Pokkén Tournament.
  •   Extreme Speed deals more damage and its hitbox has a larger range, but it covers less distance. It also now uses its GFX in Pokkén Tournament.
  •   Pokkén Tournament's Burst Mode theme replaces the stage's music when Mega Lucario is activated.

Captain Falcon

  •   Back air tweaked in animation and given a slight increase in power.
  •   Running grab has decreased range.
  •   Raptor Boost does less knockback.

Black Shadow

A clone of Captain Falcon with the following differences:

  •   All appearances of the Blue Falcon are exchanged for the Black Bull.
  •   All flame attacks changed to darkness attacks.
  •   Attacks have a 1.17x damage multiplier applied.
  •   Weight: 104 → 107
  •   Walk speed: 0.94 → 0.75
  •   Running speed: 2.32 → 1.4
  •   Falling speed: 1.837 → 1.7
  •   Traction: 0.05 → 0.07
  •   Jab only consists of the first two hits.
  •   Jab and forward tilt have knockback compensated for damage increase.
  •   Pummel is slower.
  •   Up tilt is similar to Ganondorf's, but can be ended early at the cost of being weaker.
  •   Front hit of down smash has knockback properties switched with back kick.
  •   Forward air changed to Ganondorf's.
  •   Neutral special does not move Black Shadow forward.
  •   Neutral special cannot be reversed.
  •   Neutral special has more range and a sweetspot directly on the fist.
  •   Neutral special is no longer shaped like a falcon.
  •   Side special meteor smashes airborne opponents.
  •   Up special can hit opponents aside from the one grabbed via electrical hitboxes.

Ness

  •   Double jump height reduced.
  •   Gravity: 0.077 → 0.07
  •   Jab combo is now PSI Rockin, the most powerful jab in the game, at the cost of longer times between hits.
  •   Up air is much weaker.
  •   Back throw has slightly less knockback scaling.

Lucas

  •   Back aerial always meteor smashes.
  •   Rope Snake has less range.
  •   PK Starstorm has more range.

Ice Climbers

  •   The CPU AI for the Ice Climbers now alternates between Nana and Popo every frame.
  •   The Ice Climbers cannot desynch.
  •   Partnerless Belay is now a tether.

Mr. Game & Watch

  •   Jab finisher deals significantly less knockback.
  •   Forward smash sourspot damage: 14% → 16%
  •   Pummel speed increased.
  •   Up throw reworked into a finisher.

Marth

  •   Critical Hit has been reworked to affect the strength of Marth's next attack, reducing the range but eliminating the risk of self-destruction.

Ike

  •   Weight: 107 → 104
  •   Jump height decreased.
  •   Air speed: 1.08 → 1.04
  •   Forward tilt has slightly more startup and endlag.
  •   Eruption has more range and less charge time.

Robin

  •   Run speed: 1.15 → 1.2
  •   Wind tome durability: 9 → 10
  •   Nosferatu tome respawn time: 40 seconds → 35 seconds
  •   Rapid jab modified to only use one durability point every three seconds, but still only lasts for eighteen seconds, minimizing the loss to the tome's use for Elwind.
  •   Thoron durability usage: 8 → 7

Pit

  •   Start of tumbling animation altered to resemble his Game Over sprite from Kid Icarus slightly.

Dark Pit

  •   Most of Dark Pit's ground attacks have slightly more endlag.
  •   Multi-hitting air attacks now only hit opponents once.
  •   Up-B, now called Pandora Flight, allows turning midmove and grants slightly higher distance.

Olimar

  •   Olimar and the Pikmin are slightly smaller.
  •   Forward tilt is now faster at the cost of a small amount of power.
  •   Up special changed back to Pikmin Chain.
    •   Compared to its appearance in Brawl, the attack always gives Olimar a boost.

Alph

A clone of Olimar with the following differences:

  •   Weight is 77 instead of 79.
  •   Air speed is 0.85 instead of 0.82.
  •   Rock Pikmin used instead of purple Pikmin, which are more durable but less powerful.
  •   Up special is Winged Pikmin, but the lift is less dependent on Pikmin while allowing the Winged Pikmin to be picked off.
  •   End of Day uses the wider SS Drake as the vehicle in question, with fall speed compensated for its shorter length.

Villager

  •   Body shaped tweaked slightly to resemble recent design more.
  •   Startup of neutral and down aerials increased.
  •   Forward and back aerials have less range.
  •   Throws now produce "bug/fish caught" sound effect from Animal Crossing series.

Isabelle

Isabelle (Animal Crossing universe)
Special Attack Name Description
Neutral Special Town Pass Card Isabelle throws a Town Pass Card, which acts similarly to a chakram in terms of movement.
Up Special Balloon Island Isabelle bounces off two balloons, damaging anyone in her path.
Down Special Fruit Isabelle eats a random piece of fruit, healing herself.
Side Special Acorn Chase Isabelle summons an acorn, which rolls towards the nearest opponent.
Final Smash Fountain Isabelle builds a fountain. Serena is summoned and attacks with gold and silver axes.
Notes: Most of Isabrlle's standard attacks summon Public Works Projects, which still hit opponents for a short amount of time after she can act out of the attack, making her very combo-oriented. Her only two significantly powerful attacks are the Resetti Bop hammer (side smash) and stamp (down aerial), she has below-average agility, and her weight is very low.

Mega Man

  •   Air acceleration: 0.1 → 0.07
  •   Hard Knuckle now consistently deals 13% damage.

Mallo

Mallo (Pushmo universe)
Special Attack Name Description
Neutral Special Stretchmo Creates a Stretchmo block below Mallo to act as a platform. Hold the button to pull the block out by up to two sides.
Up Special Manhole Mallo jumps in a manhole from Pushmo and climbs out of another. The path can be angled freely.
Down Special Bird Scatter Mallo stomps, causing birds to appear and fly away from Mallo on either side.
Side Special Expansion Switch Only works if Mallo is standing on a Stretchmo block. Fully pulls out the Stretchmo on either side.
Final Smash Crashmo Mallo jumps on a reset switch, causing a giant Crashmo to fall from the sky.
Notes: Lacks a midair jump

Inkling

Inkling (Splatoon universe)
Special Attack Name Description
Neutral Special Disruptor Inkling throws a Disruptor, which slows down opponents similarly to Witch Time on contact.
Up Special Super Jump A two phase move, similar to Timber. Phase 1 is Inkling placing a destructible beacon, while Phase 2 is the actual Super Jump.
Down Special Splat Bomb Inkling drops a Splat Bomb, which then explodes.
Side Special Sprinkler Inkling drops a Sprinkler, which continuously fires projectiles but can be destroyed.
Final Smash Kraken Inkling turns into a Kraken, rendering them invincible and able to spin and unleash a powerful windbox with the attack or special buttons.
Notes: All attacks drop ink, which slightly boost Inkling's stats when touched
Costumes include both Male and Female Inklings with various outfits and ink colors

Face Raider

Face Raider (Face Raiders universe)
Special Attack Name Description
Neutral Special Direct Hit A ball flies towards Face Raider, damaging opponents in its path. While it has fast startup, the attack has significant endlag.
Up Special UFO A UFO snatches the Face Raiders and carries them freely for a short while. While Face Raider doesn't directly receive damage, the move can be interrupted to put Face Raider into freefall.
Down Special Butterfly A butterfly appears near Face Raider, healing whoever touches it slightly. While it can heal anyone, Face Raider heals slightly more damage.
Side Special Glass Shard A giant shard of glass appears in front of Face Raider, flying forward and dealing damage to anyone who touches it.
Final Smash Bomb Raider A Bomb Face Raider appears and explodes immediately, dealing multiple hits in a similar manner to the Motion-Sensor Bomb.
Notes: Boss Face Raider (who the player moves) is accompanied by two lesser Face Raiders, who lunge forward for most standard attacks.
Face Raider has an abnormally low falling speed (~1.05) due to its propellor

Rayman

Rayman (Rayman universe)
Special Attack Name Description
Neutral Special Teensie Cage Creates a cage with a Teensie in it. If the cage is hit, it will be destroyed, but it will cause the attack that caused it to have significant hitlag.
Up Special Wind Gust A gust of wind pushes up Rayman. It sticks around for a long time and covers a large area, but only one can exist at a time.
Down Special Giant Turnip Rayman pulls up a giant turnip. Unlike Peach's version, it is not an item and can be attacked to launch it.
Side Special Blue Punch Rayman punches, launching a Blue Punch in front of him.
Final Smash Lum Count The screen fills up with multiple Lums, each dealing 1% damage and causing trapped fighters to flinch.
Notes: Standard attacks are largely based on his attacks in Rayman Legends
Rayman can glide using his hair, in a similar manner to Peach

Steve?

Steve? (Minecraft universe)
Special Attack Name Description
Neutral Special Craft A crafting table appears and Steve? upgrades or recreates one of his weapons, which he uses for most of his normal attacks. at the cost of some material. One unit of material is needed to create a wooden weapon (which Steve? will start out with) and two are needed to upgrade each weapon in the order of stone, iron, gold, and diamond. (see notes)
Up Special Eye of Ender Steve? throws an Eye of Ender and is teleported to it.
Down Special Bucket of Water Steve? spills a bucket of water, pushing back opponents. Useful for gimping.
Side Special Bow and Arrow Steve? fires an arrow at his opponent.
Final Smash Nighttime Steve? goes to sleep in a bed as the screen blackens and hostile mobs, such as Creepers and Zombies, attack opponents.
Notes: As Steve? attacks, he acquires material.
Upgrading weapons increases their strength and durability before breaking.
Alex? is an alternate costume.
