incoming

So, Bayonetta's coming. Her trailer revealed a lot of stuff about her, even including moveset information and names (especially her Final Smash). So do we immediately fill in the "unconfirmed" with "Infernal Climax"? 15DollarsWentSouth 18:11, 15 December 2015 (EST)

...I need to learn how that works. But thanks. Having said that, should we also note she's the only female third-party character? 15DollarsWentSouth 18:24, 15 December 2015 (EST)

English VA in Japanese version?

K so, a small bit of trivia that most will pass by happened her Japanese trailer. Once they showcased her Alt from the first Bayonetta she speaks in English. Which is a direct reference to the Japanese version of the original release of Bayonetta, which Bayonetta speaks using her English VA. I don't know if it means her alt in the Japanese version will use her English voice. Someone will have to look into it once she's released --Gashner (talk) 23:47, 15 December 2015 (EST).

Platinum Games

I looked back at Bayonetta's trailer and I couldn't notice that Platinum Games was not credited among the companies at the end. I know that Sega is credited, but even CAPCOM, USA. is credited with Ryu's inclusion. Even first party characters like Kirby and Marth have their developers credited, HAL Laboratory and Intelligent Systems respectively. Yet they are credited. I find it really weird that Platinum Games is not credited at the end, especially since they are not owned by Sega. May I make note of this in the trivia section, or is it negligible that Platinum Games is not credited with Bayonetta's inclusion? Thanks. --Nintendo101 (talk) 11:06, 16 December 2015 (EST)

Sega completely owns the IP; Platinum does the development. It's a similar case to The Wonderful 101, which is a first-party Nintendo IP also developed by Platinum. This is different from cases like HAL and Intelligent Systems where the IP is co-owned by the subsidiary. Miles (talk) 14:16, 16 December 2015 (EST)

Bayonetta being the "Ballot Winner"

Doesn't anything seem fishy about her being the "Ballot Winner"? I mean I love that she's in the game but I can't deny that something seems wrong... Nintenzilla (talk) 20:05, 16 December 2015 (EST)

What would be fishy about it? Disaster Flare Disaster Flare signature image.png (talk) 20:06, 16 December 2015 (EST)
Well she hasn't had any presence in any polls I've seen, nor has she really been a notable canidate. Not to mention Sakurai said that it takes about a year for characters to be developed, and it's only been two months since the ballot ended and she has tons of detail and quirks put into her. Do you think we should wait till official results? Nintenzilla (talk) 20:11, 16 December 2015 (EST)
If Sakurai says she's the winner, then she's the winner. I know he's a troll at times, but I highly doubt he'd go to lengths this great. My guess is the reason she didn't seem to have much of a presence in polls was because people thought she was an impossibility. Heck, even the creator of her themselves had no interest to see her in Smash and look how that turned out. Disaster Flare Disaster Flare signature image.png (talk) 20:13, 16 December 2015 (EST)
First of all, we have no reason to assume Sakurai would lie to us. Second, there's no reason to believe the results of the ballot outside of Bayonetta's inclusion will ever be made public. Third, consider that the people who vote in polls on news sites and social media are a vocal minority of the people who play the game and voted on the ballot. Miles (talk) 20:14, 16 December 2015 (EST)
Fair enough, but what about the length of development that it usually takes for a character when she seems, for the most part, mostly done? Nintenzilla (talk) 20:40, 16 December 2015 (EST)
Well ballot ended back in, what, September, right? Serpent SKSig.png King 20:45, 16 December 2015 (EST)
October 3rd, the one year anniversary of for 3DS. That means everything seen in the trailer was finished in just over two months, and four months total before her release. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by SANTY CLAWS! Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 20:54, 16 December 2015 (EST)
Which would mean that it would've been almost impossible for her to have been that finished in that amount of time. It would've had to have taken much longer, which is why I'm suspicious. Nintenzilla (talk) 20:59, 16 December 2015 (EST)
Or, you know, 80+% of the vote was probably done by early summer and the top 5-10 were pretty clear well before the ballot closed. Whatever happened, we have no reason to doubt Sakurai at his word. Miles (talk) 21:02, 16 December 2015 (EST)
I mean, yeah, I expect most of the votes were in just because there was no reason to procrastinate. But it's pretty upsetting to think they didn't wait. I would've rather just had a rough doodle of her alongside Cloud and Corrin and gotten more information in February because it took them so long to finish her. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by SANTY CLAWS! Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 21:06, 16 December 2015 (EST)
That's unfortunate that they didn't wait till the end... Well I guess... Nintenzilla (talk) 21:08, 16 December 2015 (EST)
I agree with all of you! Bayonetta is chosen to compete and in the US, she's in the TOP 5 in the ballot! Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 21:35, 16 December 2015 (EST)

This is not the place for this discussion. We are straying into opinionated and speculative territory here. Serpent SKSig.png King 21:09, 16 December 2015 (EST)

Unlisted standard attacks

I noticed a couple of her attacks shown in the direct are not listed on the wiki yet.

One such attack is shown multiple times during the direct: An aerial where she extends her leg out in front of her (after swinging it over her head; other leg is tucked under) and performs a stall-then-fall. This is most likely her down aerial.

The other attack is only shown once in the direct, briefly, right at the 28:24 mark in the english direct. She performs the Stiletto technicue from her game, in which she thrusts her arm out in front and slides forward quickly. It is most likely her dash attack, as you can see her begin to dash right before she goes into the Stiletto. Pyitoechito (talk) 17:27, 18 December 2015 (EST)

Up Air

Pretty sure Up Air is a turnaround version of Captain Falcon's Up Air, after some slight analysis. 58.152.250.104 11:43, 21 December 2015 (EST)

British Voice-overs

A trivia point had noted that Bayonetta, Shulk, and Wii Fit Trainer (PAL version, to be specific), were the only characters in the Smash Bros. series that had British voice actors. I don't really have a personal opinion towards either side, so what should we do? Should it be kept or removed? I only ask since DatNuttyKid abruptly removed it just moments ago from this post, saying only "Wait, why is this notable?". 15DollarsWentSouth 17:24, 1 January 2016 (EST)

I just don't think it's all that notable. First of all, three people total is a bit of a stretch even with the large cast of Smash Bros., and also, who really cares about accents? ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 17:27, 1 January 2016 (EST)
Uninteresting, not notable, and it's questionable if it's even trivia in the first place. Serpent SKSig.png King 17:28, 1 January 2016 (EST)
With that said, agreed. 15DollarsWentSouth 17:35, 1 January 2016 (EST)

Diamond-shaped holes

So the article clearly states that Bayonetta's outfit has been altered for Smash by filling in the holes in her pants with translucent fabric. This isn't the case. While her outfit is portrayed as having open holes in the back in most artwork (including her new challenger artwork for Smash), within the game her legs are covered in the same way as they are in Smash. ScizorSteelix 20:41, 18 January 2016 (EST)

Wallcling

So, since I really have no idea where it would go on this page, I'll just say that Bayonetta can wallcling. ScizorSteelix 22:01, 3 February 2016 (EST)

Attributes would be good. Serpent SKSig.png King 22:03, 3 February 2016 (EST)
What I mean to say is that I can't figure out how to fit it in the paragraph. I know so little about competitive play, I really don't know how to word it. ScizorSteelix 22:46, 3 February 2016 (EST)

Bayonetta can wavedash, apparently. AidanzapunkSig1.pngAidan, the Lovely Dragon WarriorAidanzapunkSig2.png 14:09, 5 February 2016 (EST)

Which is faster? Dashing or wave dashing? Unowninator (talk) 14:38, 5 February 2016 (EST)

My brother just verified, as far as he can tell, it's just ducking and walking repeatedly, no special advanced technique. Disaster Flare Disaster Flare signature image.png (talk) 14:39, 5 February 2016 (EST)

Does Bayonetta have 2 Blast KO voice clips?

I always only hear one Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~ KirbyHeadYellowSSB.png 20:31, 5 February 2016 (EST)

According to this, she does only have one. AidanzapunkSig1.pngAidan, the Lovely Dragon WarriorAidanzapunkSig2.png 20:50, 5 February 2016 (EST)

I wonder why Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~ KirbyHeadYellowSSB.png 21:03, 5 February 2016 (EST)

I think he meant Bat Within.

That is all. Unowninator (talk) 18:02, 8 February 2016 (EST)

Regardless, Ryu had this property first. Also, Bat Within is not her special move, it is a property of Witch Time and her dodges. ScizorSteelix 18:10, 8 February 2016 (EST)
Let me clarify that none of Ryu's alternate button inputs are standard button combinations in any sense. Hadoken is a quarter-circle forward and either attack button, Tatsumaki Senpuyaku is a quarter circle back and either attack button. If you weren't aware, his specials can be activated with both "A" and "B". ScizorSteelix 19:57, 8 February 2016 (EST)

What's this weird symbol that shows when Bayonetta jumps?

https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHk5nOD0Bw

I'd add it to trivia, but I don't know what it is. But I can say the same thing happens to Corrin, except with a puddle. Unowninator (talk) 02:22, 10 February 2016 (EST) Well, I'm going to sleep. I made a topic about it on gamefaqs, if someone answers & wants to add it in, fine with me. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/633202-super-smash-bros-for-wii-u/73274285 Unowninator (talk) 02:59, 10 February 2016 (EST)

That's the symbol of the Umbra Witches, the witch clan Bayonetta is from. Not sure why it's there. Torts (talk) 03:16, 10 February 2016 (EST)
Its essentially the umbran magic crest. Its the same symbol that appears during Bayonetta's intro when a fight starts, its also the symbol that appears briefly in front of her body before performing a final smash.

when its blue like that, its like gravity magic, shes using magic to help propel her body upwards. The same blue magic symbol appears when she jumps in the Bayo games, and when shes using witch Walk.

Special Witch Time Attribute

I was playing around with Bayonetta on Smash 3DS. I found that when Ness uses PK Thunder 2 in Witch Time, he will fly in the opposite direction he would had he not been in Witch Time. Is this something that only works on my system for some reason? Is this just a glitch, or was it intentional? Does it work with Lucas as well? Could this theoretically have use in higher level play? If somebody could answer some of these questions for me, that would be great. Thanks. MichaelTheAwesome32 (talk) 19:44, 10 February 2016 (EST)

Did you save the replay? If you did, upload it to the server for me to download. Unowninator (talk) 19:46, 10 February 2016 (EST)

So why didn't we just move the jump symbol trivia fact instead of deleting it?

I just don't get it. Unowninator (talk) 11:20, 11 February 2016 (EST)

Honestly I don't think it should've been deleted just because the trait is shared with one other character. 57/58 or something, I'd get, but this was a 2/58 trivia fact, which in my opinion is more than noteworthy. Disaster Flare DisasterFlareValentineSig.png (talk) 11:39, 11 February 2016 (EST)

Should I put it back? Unowninator (talk) 12:39, 11 February 2016 (EST)

Yeah go ahead, but try to phrase it so that it includes both Corrin and Bayo, rather than calling it "unique". Disaster Flare DisasterFlareValentineSig.png (talk) 12:40, 11 February 2016 (EST)

Victory poses gifs.

They are a little inconsistent with the rest. First off, the background is purple, not red like the others, and it's much slower. For consistency, can someone change Bayo's victory poses? Penro ...that's all. PenroDarkPitHead.png PenroZSSHead.png 09:33, 15 February 2016 (EST)

There's a reason I'm avoiding changing them. The problem with all of the other VPs is that they are much faster than they should be. Bayo's is the correct speed, and while yes, the background is different, I'd much rather keep them the way they are due to them being the correct speed, at least until we can get one with a red background with the correct speed. Disaster Flare DisasterFlareValentineSig.png (talk) 12:11, 15 February 2016 (EST)
Considering the fact those are the gifs that started the desire to have them all animated, I believe they should be left alone. The majority of victory images would be still images if it werent for the Bayo ones. As for the color, why should that matter? In all honesty I think they work better than the red as the red color flash would clash with the cool blue aesthetic of her design, and it matches the magic glyphs that appear during her smash attacks and her final smash. If anything I say we should have the other characters victory animations follow the pattern of them matching the characters designs instead of them all flashing red.

And as DF explained Bayonettas animated gifs are the only ones that sync up to the games standard animation speed, while everyone elses is moving faster. Again since those are going to have to be re-done anyway to be the proper speed, why not have their color flashes be changed to match with their costume designs? Leave Marios red, make Luigis green, have Clouds be grey ect. It would certainly add more color variety from a design and aesthetic standpoint. But thats just a sugestion, since DF is the one who uploaded the other .gifs, hes the only one who should change them. Making .gif's is not easy, and its not really fair when all that hard work is thrown out the window just because one person doesnt like the hard work you put into something.

Also considering the fact that Penro is the only one to have any sort of problem with them, why should we have to change the .gif's just because they want them changed?

Additions

Heya, I'm new to the Smash Wiki and I'd like to add some more detail in Bayonetta's (Attributes) section, namely regarding her recovery mix ups and her psuedo frame-1 air and spot dodges. Yet I can't as it's locked :[ Any idea why? Streethawk57 (talk) 11:16, 9 March 2016 (EST)

Bat Within

I may be giving false information - can you teleport in any direction whenever it activates by any means, or just when activated during Witch Time? MuteSpittah (talk) 15:40, 18 March 2016 (EDT)

Any activation of Bat Within lets you do that. Miles (talk) 16:34, 18 March 2016 (EDT)

Info gathered by FXSig2.png Falconian Leader (Enter the Leader's Office) 13:43, 14 April 2016 (EST)

So, I think at this point this bayo drama train should be mentioned in the article. Perhaps under a Controversy heading. We could wait it out to see what the next official tier list does with her as well. EDIT: Whoops, I'm blind and didn't see that section was there.
