International Video Gaming Federation Northwest Regional Festival and Tournament, shortened as IVGF Northwest or IVGF Seattle, was a Super Smash Bros. Melee regional tournament run by the International Video Game Federation on March 1st, 2003 alongside Tekken 4, Halo: Combat Evolved, and Unreal Tournament 2003: Death Match. The ruleset for the tournament seems to have been "1v1, best of 1, double elim, items on low or medium, pretty much every stage". Recipherus was the winner, but all other placements are unknown. Additionally, the $8,000 first place prize is still the 5th largest single payout at a tournament in Smash history. The large payout can probably be attributed to the unusually high entrance fee, $50 per competitor.
As implied by the event's name, this was the first event of a planned 10 city 2003 circuit. However, judging by the lack of results that can be found on the web it seems as if the entire operation collapsed after only the first tournament. The other planned location were: Northern California (San Francisco/ San Jose), Southern California (Los Angeles/ Orange County), Rocky Mountain Region (Denver, CO), SouthWest Region (Dallas, TX), Mid-America Region (Chicago, IL
) New England (Boston, MA), Greater New York (New York City/ Meadowlands), Mid-Atlantic Region (Philadelphia, PA), SouthEast Region (Atlanta, GA).
