- Wily Castle, which was originally shown to be exclusive to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, is confirmed to also appear in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
- 22 July 2014
- A Star Fox stage based on the Great Fox is confirmed to appear in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
- 17 July 2014
- The E3 2014 demo builds of both versions of Super Smash Bros. 4 will be available to players at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, including Nintendo of America running the first ever tournament of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
- 14 July 2014
- Captain Falcon, Lucina, and Robin are revealed as playable characters in Super Smash Bros. 4. Chrom is confirmed to appear as part of Robin's Final Smash. Rayman will also appear as a trophy, despite being a third party character with no current connection to the Smash Bros. franchise.
