Sora Ltd. is a Japanese video game developer founded by former HAL Laboratory employee Masahiro Sakurai. It was formed in the years following Sakurai's resignation from his position at HAL Laboratory.
Sora Ltd.'s first game was Super Smash Bros. Brawl. However, most of the development was handled by Game Arts and Monolith Soft.
Sakurai created Project Sora, a division of Sora Ltd., in January 2009. They developed Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS, which was unveiled at E3 2011. On June 30, Project Sora was officially closed and the website has been updated with a message that states: "The Company was dissolved on 30 June 2012. Thank you very much for your patronage so far, this website will be closed as of July 31, 2012."[1] Sora Ltd. will continue to assist Namco Bandai in the making of the fourth Super Smash Bros. game.
