From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.
The Rules
- When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
- You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
- Put a
#
before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
- Type
~~~~
after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
- There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
- Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
- You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
- You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
- Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
- While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing
|}
). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and only take effect when the entire round is viewed.
- If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
- Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
- Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
- Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things along the lines of "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already rather long page.
If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.
Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half.
Old-school enemies launching projectiles as pixellated as they are. Does the ancient ape or transgendered tubeface come out on top?
Votes for Donkey Kong (75 m)
- Donkey Kong wins, without a doubt. He has teh barrels of doom! Also, I'm not really into transvestites. Hawk 21Talk 23:16, 13 April 2012 (EDT)
- If PoD posts that image of Birdo one more fucking time... --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 23:19, 13 April 2012 (EDT)
- ..... The StarCraft 23:22, 13 April 2012 (EDT)
- He is much more powerful. Even though I hate 75m, Donkey Kong gets my vote. MeleeMarth01 00:07, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
- Mario's first enemy or a transvestite Yoshi (not that I hate him) with a leech coming out of its mouth. No contest there. King KirbyD 00:43, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
- DK can damage without projectiles, probably cuz he's too epic! ShupaRoeh (talk) 10:30, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
- Birdo is kind of odd...110.174.90.69 11:21, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
- I've played both games, I find Birdo definitely more annoying..71.48.126.230 17:02, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
- Honestly, we can all agree DK doesn't do anything, but pound his chest, but if you touch him, he deals damage. NOTHING MORE TO SAY. Period!99.235.62.184 21:07, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
- DK can't be KOed, but Birdo can. So DK is more powerful and the stage 75m is also not bad.Stranger 1260 06:29, 16 April 2012 (EDT)
- Birdo can easily be destroyed by a strong attack and her projectiles only go in straight lines. Donkey Kong can't be destroyed, his projectiles are more active than Birdo's, and he's overall more nostalgic. My reason for voting for the 8-bit ape over Birdo. toadat9021doh 20:15, 15 April 2012 (EDT)
- Unlike most people, I actually liked the American version of SMB2. --Fan275 10:24, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
- Much easier hazard in the stage. Donkey Kong's springs get annoying. And at least Birdo can be hit to draw her away. LightningBlue: LBPeep 10:53, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
Twin skyscraping cities are up in this round. Which outbuildings the other?
|
Votes for Saffron City
- Saffron City was more compact and fair, Fourside had lots of hiding places. Not to mention all the Pokémon that pop out of the building (I liked Porygon best in Smash), and even the bird Pokémon in the background. I once named a goldfish Saffron, but I called my Animal Crossing town Onett, not Fourside :| Toast ltimatum 21:14, 6 April 2012 (EDT)
- I just plain out like this stage better King KirbyD (talk) 09:20, 7 April 2012 (EDT)
- Although I've only played Brawl., Saffron City is still better because Pokemon is WAY BETTER than EarthBound overall. Stranger 1260 10:49, 7 April 2012 (EDT)
- I don't have SSB64, but I've played it at a friend's house. I love this stage because of how the Pokémon are incorporated into the stage. I <3 this stage so much that I remade it in Brawl. Didn't do that for Fourside. MeleeMarth01 15:06, 7 April 2012 (EDT)
- Ooh, I like both stages. Yeah... I guess I'll go with this one. 67.173.145.76 00:00, 8 April 2012 (EDT)
- My fav stage in 64. Meta Ike 19:39, 9 April 2012 (EDT)
- --Havoc48 >:D!!! 23:48, 10 April 2012 (EDT)
- A helicopter pad, lively Pokémon that burst out of the roof exit on occasion, a nice ramp, hovering platforms, the freaking Silph Corporation company building, the music, the cameo Pokémon in the background (particularly Moltres), and the sheer nostalgia. What's not to like? Fourside is still a good stage with its snazzy UFO and dark skyline all, but SSB64's Saffron City stage is clearly the victor here. One can only hope that such great stages return in SSB4... 72.3.33.52 15:34, 12 April 2012 (EDT)
- Fond memories of Pokemon popping out at the most random of times at deciding the match for me.71.48.126.252 21:04, 12 April 2012 (EDT)
Votes for Fourside
- I like the unique colored buildings in the background as well as the stage itself. The helicopter, UFO, and night time effect are also nice touches. Fourside has my vote. Blue Ninjakoopa(Talk)
- Even though I'm not the biggest fan of this stage, I haven't even played the other, so this one gets my vote by default. Yoshirocks341 10:40, 7 April 2012 (EDT)
Can a mod move that unsigned vote to the half-vote section? AccoolX File:Accoolx.png 19:37, 7 April 2012 (EDT)
