From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, just vote if you are a total fanboy of the character. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you can remain anonymous! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.
The Rules
- When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
- You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
- Put a
#
before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
- Type
~~~~
after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
- There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
- Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
- Any comments about the fight should be left in the comment section. It is recommended that you do not post argumentative, accusative, or any sort of comment with the intention of starting an argument with someone on the opposing side. The Smash Arena is a popularity contest, there's no need to argue with the other side on why your choice is superior, or why they are wrong with their reasoning for picking their choice. It is also recommended that you do not post comments that are just pointing out/complaining how close/one sided a matchup is. These sorts of comments are worthless, and do nothing but make an already large page larger.
- You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
- Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it).
- If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
If your vote is not added correctly - that is, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have one hour to fix it. After this time, it may be moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion. In addition, if your votes-to-rulebreaks ratio climbs too high, your votes may count for zero until the ratio drops to an acceptable level.
Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half.
While not necessarily helpless alone, these two Smashers have made their name leading huge armies. Which commander gets the commendation?
- DIVINE FINISH!!!--Shaun's Wiji Dodo talk 19:43, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- Martha doesn't toss people. HavocReaper 19:48, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- Tough call, but Marth. Partially because of this image. ReiDemon 19:56, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- I feel more comfortable playing with Marth than Olimar. Then again, I never really used Olimar all that much, since I don't like his playstyle. Dornob (talk) 20:17, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- I'll vote Martha because her recovery is better, she has that Counter, and she also has a much larger army than Captain Olimar...most of which are probably rabid fangirls. Hawk 21 (talk) 20:53, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- Anyone who does not know why I voted Marth either does not know me or is retarded. DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 21:46, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- Just saying in round 75. ..... I'll take a that hot dog Super 23:14, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- Because Olimar is useless without his Pikmin. Mastersword (talk) 05:49, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
- Olimar throw all of his Pikmins! Marth use Dancing Blade! Marth fried the sliced Pikmins! Marth give the Fried Pikmins to Olimar. Olimar eats it and thinks this is good! Marth told Olimar that the Fried Pikmins costs $4500,00! Olimar got a heart attack! Olimar died! Marth wins! FATALITY 206.53.148.144 05:55, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
- Marth is just plain awesome.--PSIWolf (T • C • E) 06:10, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
Votes for Olimar
- Both are fun characters, but Olimar has the reliability and variety. Plus, if you can pluck 3+ Purples, there will be mayhem! ToastUltimatum Complaints Box 19:41, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- Marth is better, but I feel like picking the likely loser. Blindcolours The Insomniac 19:53, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- I just hate Marth. Period! --107.5.57.137 19:57, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- While Marth is cooler and is undoubtedly a better character, I use and like Olimar much more as a character in Brawl, so my vote goes to him, not her. Squishyfrog Chat 20:13, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- Silence is golden>_>Lucas-IV- OH MY PORK! 22:12, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- Pikmin is an amazing game. Blue Ninjakoopa(Talk) 23:10, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- Marth is possibly one of my most hated characters and I prefer Pikmin over Marth's games in the Fire Emblem series. 110.174.90.69 23:29, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
- Olimar's juggling ability really helps. White Pikmin + Skill = Up to 300% DAMAGE! PikminBrawler Hop! 00:05, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
- BULBMIN!!!! WATERWRAITH!!!! Even thought they aren't in Brawl, I still like Olimar over Marth. Marth looks like a girl. 25T16 It's-a me! 00:12, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
- The man that proved that vegetables can be hardcore fighters. Smiddle 君怒る? 06:42, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
- I like Fire Emblem better then Pikmin, but I don't like Marth. So on this occasion, my vote goes to Olimar. --81.158.119.48 08:11, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
- I definitely use Olimar more, mainly because of how unconventional of a fighter he is. He doesn't use a sword, he uses Pikmin. :D 67.173.145.76 11:34, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
- It's such a pain to sweetspot most of Marth's attacks; when it comes to Pikmin and Olimar, I don't have to deal with this discrepancy as much. Dark Mai Valentine (talk) 14:55, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
- Purple Pikmin:"Hey, everyone. I'm wearin' a diaper!" Fib12 Fib12 (talk)
- Pikmin all the way! I love those games. --174.59.4.202 18:42, 14 August 2011 (EDT)
- Since I'm not familiar with Fire Emblem, I'll go for Olimar. Plus, the games (especially Pikmin 2 - MULTIPLAYAH!) are really fun!!! Heptowak(talk) Click My Picture! 21:53, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
Winner!! Port Town Aero Dive
9 to 21.5
Two race course-themed stages from Brawl, representing two different styles of racing, are now facing off. Will it be the static stage with slow Shy Guys, or the fast-moving F-Zero machines?
Votes for Mario Circuit
- Shy Guys can be kicked the hell outta the arena. Port Town? WE get kicked the hell outta the arena Kirbythe Amazing Know my power! 08:40, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Easier to fight on. BlindcoloursWho ARE YOU running from!?!? 10:44, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Mario Kart is just another series of games I play. Those F-Zero racers can and will take players out in a heartbeat; Shy Guys, not so much. Dark Mai Valentine (talk) 11:40, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- 66.222.171.225 12:57, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Shy Guys + Excitetruck music = WIN! --FireEmblemFan275 (talk) 16:03, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Mario ftw :D o.O Lucas-IV- Nwehehehehe me 02:46, 7 August 2011 (EDT)
Votes for Port Town Aero Dive
- CPU's have bad AI on this stage. XD--PSIWolf (T • C • E) 08:36, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Why do you think I vote for this? Captain Falcon (Falcon Edit!) File:CFalconHeadSSBB.png 08:40, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- F-Zero racer hits a character. Character is Star KOd. Although I like Mario Circuit more, I can kick the opponent's rears more on this stage. FTW --107.5.57.137 09:03, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Every time i vs C. Falcon in classic mode, the cars save my life Cherrim98 (talk) 09:09, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- More chaotic = More fun - Jacobdf11 Ganon ftw (talk) 10:16, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Because it's also one of my favourite stages in F-Zero GX. Oh, and "Dream Chaser" is probably the best song in the game. ReiDemon 10:23, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- I like both stages but Port Town changes so brawls end up being more interesting. 110.174.90.69 11:00, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Um, duh? DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 11:09, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- I like it because the scenery always changes, giving some variety, and because it has a lower blast line. But simply having anything to do with Captain Falcon is enough for me. 25T16 It's-a me! 11:28, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Mario Circuit looks nicer, but I prefer any aerial stage to a grounded stage with only a few exceptions (Norfair & Temple). I like the Mario Circuit stage itself more, but I like playing in Port Town Aero Dive more. ToastUltimatum Complaints Box 11:57, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- This stage, while much more dangerous, has no walkoffs, is more interesting and more fun to play on, and has some sort of competitive viability. Also, it has some of the best music in Brawl, compared to the mediocre music on Mario Circuit. Omega Tyrant 13:23, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- F-Zero X music. That's all you need to know.-Ivy73 13:29, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- umm... yeah. ..... The Google + 14:28, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- While I do prefer Mario Kart games, Port Town Aero drive has this theme remnant of street racing games and its music is more fitting. Blue Ninjakoopa(Talk) 15:03, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- I like all 6 Mario Kart games better then the actual Mario series. But unlike Mario Circuit, Port Town Aero Dive has a lower blast line and no walk-off blast lines and is generally more fun to play on. --81.158.119.48 15:17, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Yeah, Port Town's more fun. One my favorite stages. --174.59.4.202 17:47, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Honestly, even though this stage has those evil racers, it at least has pits, which makes meteor smashs and such actually useful. Dornob (talk) 17:59, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- A lot more fun and a lot more exciting. Mario Circuit's Shy Guys are too s l o w... Mastersword (talk) 19:09, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- This stage is the home stage of the guy who shouts FALCON PAWNCH!! Need I say more? Squishyfrog Chat 12:59, 9 August 2011 (EDT)
And Port Down Aero Drive takes the early lead - Jacobdf11 Ganon ftw (talk) 10:17, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
- Read rule #7, and do not make pointless comments like this. Omega Tyrant 12:14, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
This was a really close one for me. I like Mario Circuit, because Shy Guys + CPU's = Mayhem, but the lower blast line in Port Town helps me because meteor smashing is Mario's only reliable finisher at even around 120% Damage. 25T16 It's-a me!
11:32, 6 August 2011 (EDT)
This doesn't make sense. You guys complain about the half-a-second-to-escape rivers in Jungle Japes but the OHKO F-Zero racers are absolutely fine? --FireEmblemFan275 (talk) 15:21, 7 August 2011 (EDT)
- Read rule #7, and last time I checked, KOing above 50% is not an OHKO in any form. Omega Tyrant 15:27, 7 August 2011 (EDT)
