"Nolimar" refers to a fighting style in which you play as Olimar without using any Pikmin. Although undeniably a less effective strategy than playing with Pikmin, it is not without its merits. Nolimar can also refer to the character himself, such as in the context "I was playing as Nolimar," meaning "I was playing as Olimar with no Pikmin."

Without using Pikmin, Olimar is limited to only eight moves: His Neutral A combo, his Forward Tilt, his Down Tilt, his Up Tilt, his Neutral Air, his Dash Attack, his Down Special, and his Final Smash. Even with only these 8 moves, Olimar can still KO opponents; his FTilt and DTilt have enough knockback to kill opponents with moderately high damage. His Down Special can give him Super Armor if used at the right time, helping him to survive longer. His Final Smash is still immensely powerful. He can still use his Up Special Move, however only gives him a tiny hop.

• Some people refer to Nolimar as "Solimar", a combination of "Olimar" and "Solo". "LOLimar" or "Lolimar" is also another way to refer to this strategy, a combination of the acronym "lol" (short for "laughing out loud) and "Olimar".
