Icicle Mountain

Icicle Mountain is a stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is a stage that constantly moves up or down (mostly up), therefore making it a sidescroller. It moves infinitely up/down. It has platforms that are flat as well as diagonal. There are ice blocks that can be destroyed with one hit, both large and small ones. Many sections of platforms are slippery as they are made of ice. There are also platforms that drop if you stand on them to long. It is the home level of Popo and Nana, the Ice Climbers. Due to its random and battle-unfriendly nature, Icicle Mountain is disliked by most players and rarely used in tournaments.

Artistic design

The art of Icicle Mountain is subpar, and by no means the prettiest stage to look at. In the background, there are blurred, huge chunks of rock that protrude from the edges and after the level rises enough, the background just mirrors and the rocks in the background are just mirrored, thereby looking like an upside mountain. The level art that you are on is alot better. The ice looks like ice and the giant floating wood heads look like giant floating wood heads. There are alot of fat platforms that are snow capped with nicely drawn 3D trees.
