Onions are small flying crafts found in the Pikmin series. They take on the appearance of tripedal spaceships. They are the home of the Pikmin. The color of Pikmin found in an onion corresponds to the color of the onion. If a Pikmin is to get a pellet to an onion, the onion can spawn new Pikmin.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl they appear on the Distant Planet stage. When a Pellet is thrown into one, items are released. Just like in the Pikmin games, colour coordinating the Pellet you throw into the onion will net you more items.

Items considered to be the places where Pikmin are born. As to the actual biology of the process, much is still unclear. Onions absorb the prey that Pikmin capture and use it to produce new Pikmin. In addition, Onions can take in Pikmin and later release them. These organisms are crowned with distinctive propeller-like sets of leaves that spin around, enabling them to fly.
