Tōhoku
Tōhoku is a Smash region in Japan. Located at the northernmost portion of the island of Honshū, the region is compromised of six prefectures. These include, Akita, Aomori, Fukushima, Iwate, Miyagi, and Yamagata.
While many of the prefectures host locals, the majority of large-scale tournaments, including the long-running Tohoku Sumabura Championship (TSC) series, occur in Miyagi.
The region has grown significantly over the years. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U the region saw several players achieving significant success in Japan's strongest regions, Kantō and Kansai. For example, Songn, also a notable Brawl player, placed 4th at Super Sumabato, 7th at Umebura 13, and 13th at Umebura 33. Similarly, Somé placed 3rd at Sumabato Smash 4 Final and 5th at both Umebura 19 and Umebura 26. Somé notably also placed 9th at the American national Frostbite 2017. Tōhoku's strongest players continued to have success in Ultimate as evidenced by the rise of other players like Logix who is considered to be among the best players at their character in Japan.
