truetears is an Australian Smash 64 player who mains Fox. Before being exposed he was known for his extraordinary technical skill and for inventing the shield shine cancel with Fox, which he often used to break shields as seen here. His preferred controllers are the Keyboard and the Hori Mini Pad.
For much of his career he posed as a female player with the tag Emmi Zhang. Under this tag, he was instrumental in creating a Smash 64 Australian Skype group, which helped revitalize the scene. He was later recruited by TR3G and was ranked 1st on the Australian Power Rankings in 2014. However in the same year his true identity was exposed and it was revealed that he used TAS to perform most of his combos, as the Smash 64 scene in Australia was mostly online. He was subsequently kicked out of the community.[1]
