Old Man G, formerly MagiMagi and Antheia, is a Smash 4 Mewtwo main from Northern Ireland. He is best known for being the first player from any part of the United Kingdom to reach the Top 16 of a super-major in Smash 4. Originally being a Sheik main up until her nerf in Patch 1.1.5, he dropped her for Mewtwo as he was buffed in the same patch and his results improved drastically. His breakout performance was at Crossover which took place 11 days after the patch where Mewtwo was buffed and caused many upsets in his losers bracket run (including Skarfelt) and didn't lose any games in Top 8 up until Grand Finals against MINT where he lost 0-3 finishing at 2nd. His most notable performance in the UK has been at Albion 2 where he upset players such as S1 and double eliminated Ixis and went to a game 5 last hit situation with cyve before losing 2-3 finishing at 3rd. He is ranked 1st on the Ireland Power Rankings and 9th on the European Smash 4 Power Rankings.
In Melee, he plays Ice Climbers and Fox and is currently ranked 7th on the Ireland Power Rankings. He has set wins on Craft, Verdant, and Bombo.
He notably beat CaptainZack, ANTi, Eon, and Craftis at Super Smash Con 2018, placing 9th at said event.
On August 30th, 2018, MagiMagi left Hound Esports. [1] He temporarily changed his tag to Antheia for competitive play in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and has occasionally entered brackets under DAVID, his own name. Currently, he has apparently switched tags with the previous Old Man G.
Tournament history
Before picking up Mewtwo, MagiMagi was a Sheik main who played decently at tournaments including a 13th place finish at Celtic Throwdown 2015. However after Patch 1.1.5 was released which had nerfed Sheik, MagiMagi decided to drop her and main Mewtwo. Just over a week after the patch came out, MagiMagi attended a nearby tournament called Crossover featuring some of Ireland's best players (MINT, Skarfelt, etc.). After getting sent to losers very early in the bracket, he made an impressive losers bracket run eliminating notable players such as maXy, Hackle Serpent and Skarfelt in a shocking upset at the time before losing 0-3 to MINT in Grand Finals finishing at 2nd place.
MagiMagi's next tournament appearance would be at Newry Hosts Super Smash Bros. V: The South Strikes Back where he managed to make it out his pool on winners side and managed to get into winners semis where he beat RedSlasher 2-0 before losing to Skarfelt in winners finals 1-3 and then lose to sp00n in losers finals 1-3 finishing at 3rd place.
He attended Smash the Pale 4 later that month and swept through winners bracket beating WeirdWolf 2-0, Way 2-0 to make it into winners side of Top 8 and Blue Persil 3-2 in winners semis before losing to Hackle Serpent 0-3 in winners finals and MINT 0-3 in losers finals finishing at 3rd place once again.
