The Melee Panda Global Rankings, or MPGR, is a power ranking done by PGStats that ranks the top 100 players (50 in the summer iteration) for Super Smash Bros. Melee. The MPGR succeeds the SSBMRank that had handled the Melee power rankings since 2013. Despite this change, the ranking process is identical to how it worked previously.

Process

Multiple top players, community leaders, tournament seeders, and regional power rankers, are all chosen to be panelists for the MPGR. Panelists are then asked to rate players based on the following:
“Based on quality and quantity of results in the ranking period, rate each player on a scale of 1 to 10. A tournament is held every weekend during the ranking period, and all players on the list are able to attend every event. Over the course of the season, who performs the best? You may give the benefit of the doubt to players who attended more events during the ranking period if you so choose.”
Ballot scoring is normalized between each panelist and each player's final score was calculated as a weighted average, with a higher weight given to scores closer to the interquartile mean of the total scores.
