Leaks
I noticed you keep undoing stuff involving Yoshi's Island in SSB4, you seem to have missed several hours of discussion on the subject, we agreed that everything shown in the videos would be listed in the mainspace and everything in the images would not be listed until we got definitive proof. So please stop removing information about it. Also, why are you only removing mentions of Yoshi's Island and not, say, Shulk or Bowser Jr.? It seems weird. Laikue (talk) 22:42, 26 August 2014 (EDT)
- Alright, I will stop since it keeps getting added back anyway. The reason I was only removing Yoshi's Island is because removing Shulk and Bowser Jr. and whatnot would require removing several pages, which would make me rather disputed in the community, I feel. I think it's odd that you're adding information from a video leak on what's supposed to be a professional and informative wiki, especially since so far there's been no substantial proof from Nintendo or Masahiro Sakurai. But whatever, I suppose that's the community's decision. DryKirby64 (talk) 08:31, 27 August 2014 (EDT)
Zelda's white alt
While I agree that it no longer resembles a wedding gown, I think the alt would more explicitly resemble her blue dress if that was the source of inspiration. The dress does not look cyan to me in the link you showed me. At most, there's a subtle blue-tint, but I think that's mostly from the lighting on Spirit Tracks. It's still a white gown with golden highlights, like in previous games. If anything, I think it looks more like the overworld sprite from A Link to the Past even more so than it did in previous games. Even the gems in her head wear are the same color as the sprite's.Nintendo101 (talk) 08:00, 19 June 2018 (EDT)
- I'm still fairly confident about the blue dress being the source of inspiration, but unless we get some sort of outside confirmation like the fake Bowser in SSB4, there's not much else going for it. I agree it bears a closer resemblance to her overworld sprite, so let's leave it at that. DryKirby64 (talk) 12:03, 19 June 2018 (EDT)
Models and textures appear "unchanged"
Hi, Serena. I've noticed that you have committed a lot of revisions to the aesthetic change sections of the Ultimate fighters. What is you basis for saying models and textures look "similar to past installments"? I personally feel this tone mischaracterized the models and textures by suggesting they were recreated from scratch. This is actually not the case for several reasons. Every Smash title begins development by porting data, engines and assets from the previous game. For example, when Kid Icarus: Uprising was in the final development stages, Brawl was ported to the Nintendo 3DS concurrently, and the amount of revisions were piled on from there. The amount of changes between fighters varies wildly. For example, Pikachu in SSB4 has a completely different model from Brawl based on the recent Pokemon games. Mario, by contrast, relies on the same model from Brawl, but with different color contrasts. This is evident if you compare the Brawl and Wii U models side-by-side in a 3D-model viewer. I would be surprised if Ultimate took a different development approach, especially considering Sakurai recently stated that Ultimate heavily relies on material from the previous entry (for Wii U) and that their would be a lot fewer playable characters. This tells me that at least some of the assets from SSB4 were retained, which is in line with previous titles. I would be very surprised if the model or textures of Villager in Ultimate were changed at all. It looks like the same character with altered animations and a textural overlay that makes his colors seem more subdued. That is not the equivalent of recreating him scratch. Nintendo101 (talk) 22:40, 25 June 2018 (EDT)
- I say "similar to the previous installment", as in, similar to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, rather than "unchanged". I didn't mean to imply that they're recreated from scratch, but "unchanged" implies that the models are completely the same as Wii U, which is obviously not true. Every character in Ultimate has been at least slightly touched up from Wii U, just like Wii U had touched-up models from Brawl. Going with the example of Villager, there are subtle textural differences from Wii U to Ultimate: his eyelids are darker than his skin rather than lighter, and his shoes have a different texture with visible highlights. Now that you mention it, though, I'm not really sure whether it's worth noting whether something is "unchanged" or "similar" to before... Do you think it might be better just to remove that turn of phrase and focus on the more visible differences? DryKirby64 (talk) 23:31, 25 June 2018 (EDT)
- You bring up good points, though I would argue that textual changes are not equivalent to model changes (with Villager's eyelids being a texture, not a an extension to his model). I agree that a fair common ground would be to just remove what remained the same (be it similar or unchanged) because you're right - what is left unchanged between game installments is not the point of those sections.Nintendo101 (talk) 11:50, 26 June 2018 (EDT)
External Links vandalism
Can you not? We've been linking to wikia's for franchise's that dont have standard wiki's since before SSB4, going around and removing the external links on the castlevania character profiles can be considered a form of vandalism. I'm undoing this mess right now, and I advise that you don't do it again.
Ixbran (talk) 04:18, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- It's not really vandalism but yeah, the externals to castlevania wiki are fine. Serpent King 15:16, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- I should have explained before I went ahead and did that, so I apologize. From my understanding, Wikipedia is preferred over wikias, and there are Wikipedia links in use. I haven't seen any other page use a wikia citation other than these and some Mega Man and Monster Hunter pages, though. DryKirby64 (talk) 15:21, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
Discussion
I liked the old series symbols for pre-Brawl stages in this wiki better, despite those reappearing in post-Brawl games or not. Juju1995 (talk) 21:45, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- That's understandable. It makes sense to include the old symbols for stages that haven't come back yet, but with returning stages that use newer screenshots, I think the newer symbols make more sense for consistency. DryKirby64 (talk) 21:53, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- Well, before Ultimate, what about most of the returning 64 and Melee stages in SSB4? We didn't see their series symbols change in their stage infoboxes, despite getting new screenshots. (I'm not sure if that came out right) Juju1995 (talk) 22:08, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- You mean like the N64 stages, right? I have to admit I'm not sure why they weren't changed before Ultimate; I guess because they didn't get any graphical upgrades? But when Melee Kongo Jungle was changed to Kongo Falls, the symbol was changed too, so I suppose it must've been a matter of consistency... DryKirby64 (talk) 22:53, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- Still, it would've been nice to see returning 64 and Melee stages retain their old symbols in the infoboxes (not counting Kirby, The Legend of Zelda, F-Zero, and Super Smash Bros., as they are only universes to retain their exact symbols since 1999) then, in my opinion, viewers would see which Smash game they first appeared in before Brawl. Music
I hope this isn't too much, but is it possible that you link where you got Ultimate song information from every time you update the song list? Not that I don't trust you, but I need some certification on where the songs came from. SugarCookie420 (talk) 16:53, 7 November 2018 (EST)
- Ah, yeah, I'll do that from here forward, though I'll keep it in the edit summary. Most of it's from either the Spanish full-roster demo or the Japanese tournament. DryKirby64 (talk) 17:22, 7 November 2018 (EST)

Keep in mind (for me that is)
If you ever wonder why I edit Classic Mode trivia more than any others, it's because I play that mode the most in the game; plus the fact that I've only played like two or three online matches in my entire life, so unless I'm playing with my own friends locally (much less online), I play that single player mode (that you can now obviously do co-op with for Ultimate) just for higher and higher scores for the characters themselves (some routes better than others). And one other note, I don't observe much else of the characters or other modes themselves despite having played all (or at least MOST OF) of them at least once. --NinTylo (talk) 23:07, July 28, 2019 (EDT)
Melee's continue screen
Throughout Melee's source code regarding the menu's actions, the 0's and 1's decide if the player can or cannot Continue and not the coins itself which 1 or other value ends the game immediately and 0 allows the player to Continue after coins were checked at it's initialization whereas the state successfully removes the "Continue" but the buttons didn't get affected if it's Game Over and ends the game after the trophy lands. Also, there was one action for the "Yes" button that got unused because the game ends if you don't have enough coins.--68.186.86.111 12:17, August 17, 2019 (EDT)

Hey
How could I write spirit inspirations better? I’m going for the simple ones like pac-man and Duck Hunt now. 174.55.24.64 16:14, November 11, 2019 (EST)
- Avoid stating the obvious, such as physical similarities between the characters and their puppet fighters. Focus on how the gameplay replicates how the characters appear in their original games, and do some research about them so it doesn't just come down to the bare basics. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 16:17, November 11, 2019 (EST)
- Why does it still say that Falco and Farfetch’d are both birds then? I researched Roger the Potted Ghost, Don Bongo, and the Yoshi Topsy Turvy characters on Mario Wiki though? I’m doing Pac-Man next. 174.55.24.64 16:24, November 11, 2019 (EST)
- It doesn't, at least not anymore. You have to make more concrete connections than simply, for example, "Robin and Hongo are both magic"; both the stage and Robin's tomes reference how Yoshi Topsy-Turvy takes place in a pop-up book. The references are usually something you wouldn't get at a cursory glance. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 16:33, November 11, 2019 (EST)
- What about personality though, can a puppet fighter be used to represent the personality between them and the spirit and not physical similarities? ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is bad for me 22:22, November 11, 2019 (EST)
- I would say no, unless it relates to their abilities (for example, Ganondorf and M. Bison both being villains who use darkness). ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 23:15, November 11, 2019 (EST)
