Terry (テリー, Terry) is an upcoming playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was officially announced in the September 4th, 2019 Nintendo Direct as the fourth downloadable character from the Fighters Pass. He is scheduled to release in November 2019 and classified as Fighter #74. Given the voice clips shown in his sneak peek, Takashi Kondō will most likely be reprising his role as Terry from The King of Fighters XIV and onwards.
Attributes
- Terry's design most closely resembles how he appears in The King of Fighters 2000, while his animations appear to be modeled after The King of Fighters XII and XIII.
- An animation where he adjusts his cap, most likely an idle animation.
- Similar to Ryu and Ken, sound effects from the original Fatal Fury are used when hitting opponents instead of the typical knockback sounds.
- The brief gameplay footage released shows him performing two moves from Fatal Fury:
- Power Wave: A punch to the ground that shoots a fiery projectile, most likely his neutral special or down special.
- Burn Knuckle: A move where he launches forward and punches the opponent, most likely his side special.
- Burn Knuckle is shown to have a flash similar to that of Ryu and Ken when they input their moves manually, likely meaning Terry will have a similar mechanic as well as the automatic turnaround.

Trivia
- Terry's reveal trailer makes a couple references to other SNK titles.
- The beginning of the trailer shows an invitation falling into Kyo Kusanagi's hand, taken directly from the opening of The King of Fighters '94; the message ending with [S] is a reference to Rugal Bernstein ending the message with his initial [R] as well as Smash director Masahiro Sakurai.
- Ryo Sakazaki's cut-in is a sequence taken from the intro of The King of Fighters '96.
- Joe Higashi and Andy Bogard's appearance features a sequence from Fatal Fury Special.
- Geese Howard falling from his tower references Geese's demise at the end of Fatal Fury: King of Fighters.
- Nakoruru's sequence is from the Vs. screen of Samurai Shodown II.
- Iori Yagami's sequence is taken directly from The King of Fighters '95, with his laughter being his signature win pose.
- Terry's silhouette is from Real Bout Fatal Fury.
- Terry's inclusion marks the second time Capcom, SNK, and Square Enix (and, more specifically, Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, and Final Fantasy) have crossed over in a fighting game developed by Bandai Namco, as Akuma, Geese, and Noctis Lucis Caelum previously crossed over in Tekken 7.
- Additionally, disregarding the aforementioned guest characters, this is the first time Capcom and SNK characters have appeared in a crossover fighting game since SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos.
- Terry is the first DLC character not to be accompanied by another character in the panoramic artwork. Piranha Plant is accompanied by a Pikmin, Joker is accompanied by Morgana, Hero is accompanied by a Slime, while Banjo & Kazooie accompany each other.
