Starter character

A starter character is a character who is available for play immediately after turning the game on for the first time; the player does not have to unlock or challenge that character in order for him to be selectable (as one must do to select unlockable characters).
List of starter characters
The following characters appear as starter characters:

We do not truthfuly know the starter list for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but based on Melee, this is what we got so far. Though it is safe to say, that Newcomers, such as Pit and Pokemon Trainer, will also be starters.
