Victory Theme
Exactly WHICH song in Mother 3 is this from? It's not the "title theme"...- Gargomon251 (talk) 21:03, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- To tell you the truth, the song isn't from Mother 3. It's in the first game, Mother. In Mother 3, they used the title song from Mother, which is called "Mother Earth". Mother Earth features a part of the unused lyrics in the first Eight Melodies. --Pokeflora (talk) 23:43, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
umm. . . .
there really is only one game in the series called earthbound its usually called the mother series not the earthbound series dudes
- It's not called Earthbound in Japanese. Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back is the Japanese name.--MegaTron1XD 05:40, July 22, 2010 (UTC)
I agree that when we're referring to this universe that we should label it as the Mother universe rather than the EarthBound universe. In Japan, all three games have "Mother" as the title: Mother, Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back, and Mother 3. So this means that Mother is the real name of the games (this is more apparent when Shigesato Itoi, creator of the series, said that the inspiration for the name came from John Lennon's song "Mother"). - No. It's called Earthbound here. Brawl refers to it as the Earthbound series. That would be like calling Bowser "Koopa" because that is his Japanese name. And you are incorrect that most of the games only have the title "Mother". The first game was intended to be called Earth Bound when it was released here, but unfortunately it got cancelled. The third game was going to be called "Earthbound 64" but that too got cancelled. So really, the series is called Earthbound. Mr. Anon (talk) 12:02, 31 October 2010 (EDT)
- It is true that the first Mother was going to be called Earth Bound and Mother 3 for the N64 was going to be called EarthBound 64, but due to the cancellation people either refer to it to it's "offical" name Mother and Mother 3, or their "unofficial" names that the fans call EarthBound Zero and EarthBound 2. Also Brawl refers to the series as EarthBound (Mother). And if we're going by what Brawl says, it still retains calling the first game Mother and the third game Mother 3. - I never said we shouldn't call the first and third games Mother and Mother 3. However, because the one game actually released here in the US was called Earthbound, the title should be Earthbound (universe) rather than Mother (universe). Again, we don't call Bowser "Koopa", nor do we call Boos "Teresas". Similarly, we don't call the Kirby series the "Hoshi no Kaabi series". Mr. Anon (talk) 12:57, 31 October 2010 (EDT)
- (That's because 星のカービィ [Hoshi no Kābyi] literally translates to "Kirby") Anyway, I guess I could go either way with names. I just think that referring it as the Mother universe is actually more proper than the calling it the EarthBound universe as Itoi got the name from John Lennon's song and he stated that he wanted the games to have names that weren't game-like. Nomenclature from Mother 3
- Option 1: Use transliterated versions of Japanese names, such as Yokuba.
- Option 2: Use the professional (albeit unofficial) translated version, such as Fassad.
- Option 3: Use both, such as Yokuba/Fassad.
Which ought we use? Miles (talk) 21:09, 13 November 2010 (EST)
Mother or EarthBound Beginnings?
I feel that it is a little redundant to write Mother/EarthBound Beginnings every time we refer to the first installment of the series. Would it be better to drop one of either Mother or EarthBound Beginnings so that we don't have to write a slash mark and the alternate name all the time? I personally feel we should keep the EarthBound Beginnings name, because that would provide more consistency with the EarthBound game, as well as the name of the page itself. Also, it is the globalized name of the game. John (talk) 15:01, 20 July 2015 (EDT)
- I'd stick with both, as while the former is more commonly used, the latter is the official name, so it would be odd to get rid of either. Nyargleblargle (Talk) 15:12, 20 July 2015 (EDT)
- It's a messy situation either way, since both names have legitimate reasons to be used but using both every time is excessive. What makes up my mind on the subject, though, is that Smash itself exclusively uses "Mother", since the "EarthBound Beginnings" name didn't exist until last month; on top of that, the game's been widely known by the "Mother" title in English for literally decades. If we were to choose one of the two to prioritize, I think those two factors are what should drive the decision. I'd personally advocate that the game be called "Mother" in general, and that the "EarthBound Beginnings" name be used only to refer to the history of the VC release. Miles (talk) 16:43, 20 July 2015 (EDT)
I would also like to add on to the fact that the Smash series itself has never used EarthBound Beginnings as a title for the first Mother game. This is evident because both Smash 4 titles were released before the official English release of Mother 1 where it was renamed. Dots (talk) The Bullet 09:32, 11 January 2016 (EST)
Lucas’ Showcase Song
The song is Unfounded Revenge, not Unfounded Revenge/Snashing Song of Praise —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.133.91.93 (talk • contribs) 8:09, 20 August 2018 (EDT)

- There is a difference? I figure they would be the same track because of the similar titles. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 09:14, 20 August 2018 (EDT)
- It's literally the same track that was in Brawl and SSB4: "Unfounded Revenge / Smashing Song of Praise". Yes, the particular portion the Lucas video plays is the "Unfounded Revenge" portion from Mother 3, but the track as a whole has both songs and is titled as such. VoqéoT 09:25, 20 August 2018 (EDT)
