Ness (ネス, Ness) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was confirmed on June 12th, 2018.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

  • Change Ness now grabs and holds his opponents and pummels them with PSI, mirroring Zelda's grab.
  • Change PK Fire now has the on-screen PSI Fire graphics from EarthBound when released and upon hit. He poses differently when firing it, pointing in the direction of the move instead.
  • Change PK Thunder now has an angle indicator when the ball of lighting comes close enough to Ness.
  • Change PK Starstorm is now similar to its Brawl iteration, firing meteors in a fan shape but significantly slower. Paula and Poo join Ness in his Final Smash, and PK Starstorm background effects from EarthBound also appear during the Smash.
  • Change PSI Magnet now has the on-screen effect from EarthBound and visible suction around the outside of the magnet.
  • Change Up Air now has a new animation where he waves his hands in the air in a manner similar to Peach's up air. It deals good knockback.
  • Change Neutral Air now has PSI emitting from his hands, similar to Zelda.
  • Change Airdodge now has a different animation, similar to Melee
  • Buff PK Flash moves more quickly.
