I'd like to bring you to a vandal.
Henry stickmin recently vandalized Wario (PM) and Marth (PM)... And swore in his vandalism edits. (The edits are all undid) INoMed (Talk) 15:56, 25 September 2015 (EDT)
- This belongs here. Serpent∞King (talk) 20:27, 25 September 2015 (EDT)
Omega Tyrant
Is he ever coming back? - Drilly Dilly (talk) 01:40, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
These
Do you find these pages convenient with their info: this one and and this, too? - Drilly Dilly (talk) 02:21, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
- I find them useful, but they were MASSIVE vandal targets recently. (I'm not the response you were looking for... xD) INoMed (Talk) 02:33, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
- I have absolutely zero interest in Project M, and the content isn't useful for mainspace purposes either. Miles (talk) 02:50, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
About unacceptable usernames
Is a username of a person in real life who is/was greatly hated considered non-tolerable on the wiki (Adolf Hitler for example)? - Drilly Dilly (talk) 04:13, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
- You already asked another user this, and you've probably seen me ban a few people for this in the last day or two. Why are you asking again? Miles (talk) 11:51, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
- Thing is, Toomai didn't reply (yet, at least), so that's why I'm asking you considering you're very active across the wiki. I hope I didn't cause any mischief. - Drilly Dilly (talk) 15:29, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
- Would you please tell both of us why these people names are unacceptable as a username? You haven't answered yet, I'd very appreciate it. Arthur1124 (talk) 14:01, 30 September 2015 (EDT)
- Usage of a deliberately inflammatory username is a pretty blatant means of trolling. Miles (talk) 14:20, 30 September 2015 (EDT)
- No I mean, using ANY people's names as a username would be unacceptable? Arthur1124 (talk) 00:41, 10 October 2015 (EDT)

Alph
Were you and Omega arguing on this page? - Drilly Dilly (talk) 15:43, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
As much as I normally doubt you...
I don't think having an extra (and far more active) bureaucrat wouldn't hurt, especially someone as experienced as you. Toomai being the only bureaucrat that's even semi-active, and even then Toomai isn't on often. Don't get me started on Porplemontage. Yeah even if people like Brian or Nutta will try and put you down, I think you should give a RfB a try. Ganonmew, The Evil Clone 15:37, 29 September 2015 (EDT)
- I'm considering it. That's all I'll say for now. Miles (talk) 17:26, 29 September 2015 (EDT)
- You seemed pretty upset when you were talking to me. - Drilly Dilly (talk) 04:38, 30 September 2015 (EDT)
Is this normal?
Nyargleblargle tagged my Userspace edit as patrolled. It was a relatively minor edit, adding Nyargleblargle into my upside down usernames. INoMed (Talk) 13:43, 30 September 2015 (EDT)
- I don't actively use the patrol system; it's basically a means of flagging an edit as "checked" and approved. Nyargle may be choosing to use said system, which isn't anything overly odd. Miles (talk) 14:20, 30 September 2015 (EDT)
I have a request
Okay I honestly don't know who to turn to for this question so I'm asking you first, but I've grown past my Bulbaboy phase and I'd like to have my username changed to my Smash nickname Disaster Flare. Could you please change it if you're the one who does? Bulbaboy (talk) 03:33, 3 October 2015 (EDT)
- Ask Toomai. Only bureaucrats can do that. Serpent∞King (talk) 03:41, 3 October 2015 (EDT)
I have a question.
How does the Status of the Wiki change? Does a bureaucrat change it? Because we are about to get a face full of new info due to the closing of the ballot. Ganonmew, The Evil Clone 17:44, 3 October 2015 (EDT)
- For starters, please refer to SW:SWSS. Second, there's no indication that we'll hear anything about the ballot for a long time. It could close and we might hear nothing about the results for months, so don't expect news anytime soon. Miles (talk) 18:15, 3 October 2015 (EDT)
- Apologies. Ganonmew, The Evil Clone 18:27, 3 October 2015 (EDT)
- Well, not to correct either of you, but while yes, we shouldn't expect to see any DLC just yet, we also need to be ready for when they do announce it, because of the sole reason that we don't know when it'll happen, staying on our toes basically. Bulbaboy (talk) 18:29, 3 October 2015 (EDT)
- Excellent point. Ganonmew, The Evil Clone 18:35, 3 October 2015 (EDT)

Are we ever going to get those 3DS trophy images?
They've been missing for a while now... Serpent∞King (talk) 00:45, 7 October 2015 (EDT)
- Not sure why. We got clean rips of the 3DS trophy images and congratulations screens for Mewtwo; I have no idea what the holdup is on the three characters from June. Miles (talk) 00:47, 7 October 2015 (EDT)
- How do we usually get them? Serpent∞King (talk) 22:35, 7 October 2015 (EDT)
- It varies; I would expect them to have been updated on sites like The Spriters Resource by now, like Random Talking Bush had been doing on the Wii U side of things. Apparently nobody has done so, either due to lack of interest or some kind of difficulty in accessing 3DS update data. Miles (talk) 22:45, 7 October 2015 (EDT)
- Yeah, I was just checking that and I stumbled across this. I would say that these are probably all wii u though. Serpent∞King (talk) 22:48, 7 October 2015 (EDT)

I just left a comment here, so we'll have to see what happens over the next couple of days. Maybe it'll be added? Serpent∞King (talk) 19:53, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
- Hopefully. Miles (talk) 20:05, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
- Update on this: I got a response from the uploader (I PM'd), referring me to someone else. I have already PM'd them and I'm currently awaiting a response. Hopefully the wild goose chase ends here. Serpent∞King (talk) 20:13, 9 October 2015 (EDT)
Ok so the problem apparently is that it's not known how to rip from 3DS update data. In other words, the update manifest has been obtained, but it's unknown how to rip from it. Serpent∞King (talk) 19:24, 10 October 2015 (EDT)
- At this point, I think our best bet is getting a direct screenshot from someone with a New 3DS. Nyargleblargle (Talk · Contribs) 20:22, 10 October 2015 (EDT)
- Agree'd. takers? Serpent∞King (talk) 20:34, 10 October 2015 (EDT)
oh hey
You main Luigi in Melee too? Neat. Definitely one of the more chaotic characters in the game. Serpent∞King (talk) 04:23, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
- To be fair, I haven't played Melee actively in a very long time, so I don't know how accurately that reflects how I'd feel playing it again today. Miles (talk) 04:47, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
Changes to shield mechanics
Where can I upload a page where I regard how the characters get changed by the new shield mechanics? Does it have to be on the forum? Or where else? --BeepYou (talk) 19:45, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
- If the change is legit, these can be listed on each individual characters' "Changes from Brawl" section. Serpent∞King (talk) 19:55, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
- I meant to express my opinion on how characters have been changed due to that. We've already finished putting how shields buffed characters like Bowser and nerfed ones like Diddy. And yep, the changes seem legit. For example, this. --BeepYou (talk) 20:00, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
- Generally, I don't have a strong preference between covering such changes on individual character pages if their metagame is affected drastically versus covering it on the 1.1.1 changelog page. What I will say is that I think many users would benefit from reading this guide I made about how to discuss changes to a character neutrally and encyclopedically. So...
Isn't a 3 month ban a little excessive for a first time vandal (especially when the edit could be good faith)? Serpent∞King (talk) 04:12, 12 October 2015 (EDT)
- We've had nearly identical false-info vandalism a lot lately, much of which looks like the same person. Take a skim through the block log and the contributions of IPs and users blocked for false information recently. Miles (talk) 04:28, 12 October 2015 (EDT)
We have a troll/vandal/Hee-man fan that needs dealt with.
The name is John1887363. (Not the trustworthy John3637881) INoMed (Talk) 02:29, 13 October 2015 (EDT)
- There's also a ton of troll pages that need deleted. Serpent∞King (talk) 02:32, 13 October 2015 (EDT)
- I think I got them all. Sorry I didn't refresh Recent Changes sooner. :/ Miles (talk) 02:36, 13 October 2015 (EDT)

- Me too. INoMed (Talk) 02:43, 13 October 2015 (EDT)

What's up with all the vandalism lately?
It seems to be attacking us now more than ever. Wish there was something we could do to solve the problem more permanently Serpent∞King (talk) 02:47, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- Got me. That is the inherent risk in a site being openly editable, frustrating as it can get sometimes. Miles (talk) 02:49, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- Sorry for me not helping out, I was snoozing. INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 05:19, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- This might seem extreme, but it seems to be reaching SmashWikia levels of vandalism. This might be really extreme, but we might need Porplemontage to solve this if it gets worse. Ganonmew, The Evil Clone 16:08, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- I don't think it's that extreme. Aside from a few slip-ups, I feel as though Miles and I are usually able to handle things and block vandals relatively quickly. The only problem really seems to be in the morning GMT, where we're both offline and unable to block vandals for a few hours. Nyargleblargle (Talk · Contribs) 16:14, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- Yeah, just a thought, but we may need another person of your rank who's up that early in order to better combat them. Just a suggestion. Disaster Flare (talk) 16:16, 16 October 2015 (EDT)

We need a compromise on how a section should be worded!
Hey, sorry to bother you on something kind of trivial, but we need a compromise on how the Attributes section of the Roy article should be worded. This shows what my edits were on the left, and the other user's edits on the right. I was trying give the section a neutral tone, as well as reduce the redundancy and run-on sentences. He reverted my edit without without an explanation. Disagreeing with the revision, I notified the user about this several times, but never got an explanation. After almost a month, I tried doing it again, as well as fixing a potentially misleading trivia point. My edit was reverted once again without any real explanation. I tried again to notify the user but didn't get an answer. Since this second revert, there have been multiple changes to the section, but I still feel my version was the best in terms of grammar, lack of redundancy, and neutral tone. Would you mind checking all of this over and determining what should be done? Thanks. John PK SMAAAASH!! 12:13, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- Your version does seem to be better; I think more users could benefit from reading this guide I made about how to discuss a character neutrally and encyclopedically. Miles (talk) 12:47, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- You say that, yet there are several other pages that fit under that category of "needs to be less judgemental". Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura 12:59, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- And they should be tagged and/or improved accordingly as well, and once improved, maintained. Miles (talk) 13:48, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- I think there should be a policy about a neutral tone in articles (not unlike what makes good trivia or whether a smasher gets an article or not), and then make the template to notify people about this. Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura 14:08, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- That's a good idea! There are way too many opinionated articles on the wiki. But as for the compromise I proposed, what should/will be done about that? John PK SMAAAASH!! 14:17, 16 October 2015 (EDT)

- Not at all, actually. You've shown to be helpful in protecting the same page in question from vandals, and it seems you wrote the majority of the Attributes section in discussion here. The problems are that you undid my edits, which were made to improve the page, and never explained why. It would be like if I had undone this. John PK SMAAAASH!! 18:42, 19 October 2015 (EDT)

About the neutral tone guide
I'll try and convert pages soon, starting with those that I've edited before. May I? Drill Blaster Mark 2 (talk) 15:54, 17 October 2015 (EDT)
- You don't need to wait for the guide to be made "official" to work on improving tone. The only thing I will say is to keep in mind that you want to make an effort to retain good information while filtering out overly opinionated phrasings. Miles (talk) 15:58, 17 October 2015 (EDT)
- Got it. Thanks for clearing that out. Drill Blaster Mark 2 (talk) 16:00, 17 October 2015 (EDT)
About the Tone template prototype
Do you mind adding a "the editor who added this tag elaborates:" optional message to your template:tone prototype? (Decline if you think this is a bad idea) INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 13:08, 18 October 2015 (EDT)
- Already there, just doesn't display unless used (same as how it doesn't show on {{cleanup}} itself, but does on pages). The phrasing is "The editor who added this tag suggested the following improvement(s): [input]". Miles (talk) 13:12, 18 October 2015 (EDT)

Then where I am supposed to put it? - Drilly Dilly (talk) 03:14, 20 October 2015 (EDT)
- It... doesn't belong anywhere in particular? You're guessing why something in Smash is inconsistent with source material. Sometimes it's just different; you don't have to guess why. Miles (talk) 03:16, 20 October 2015 (EDT)
- It's the same as "Why is Mewtwo a lightweight in smash when the pokedex claims that he's heavier than the average human?" Smash takes many liberations with the source material when it comes to statistics, especially size and weight. Serpent∞King (talk) 03:57, 20 October 2015 (EDT)

My RfA
You seem to be somewhat against promoting me to adminship (to each his own, I guess), but, out of curiosity, I wish to ask this:
If it were you instead of Toomai that had the ability to promote people requesting for adminship, what would be your decision regarding me, and why? I'm hoping to see if there's some things I may have to work on. Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura 09:00, 21 October 2015 (EDT)

Preferences
Quick question: okay, so you know how in your preferences you can set your internalization to either "I don't wanna say", "He edits pages", or "She edits pages", right? If one is selected, how are others supposed to know what you had just selected and that you wanna go by that? Also, what is it even used for generally? - Drilly Dilly 02:35, 22 October 2015 (EDT)
- I've never seen where it's used, honestly. It's basically up to users themselves to specify a preferred pronoun publicly by some other means if they so desire. Miles (talk) 02:53, 22 October 2015 (EDT)

Something about the SW:TONE tags you've been adding...
I think it might be a little unnecessary to put them on the Brawl pages, considering how much the metagame has developed at this point. Also: making it a guideline in which people can be blocked for not following is ridiculous in itself, especially when you consider how slim the definition of "subjective" is. A cursory look at Sonic (SSBB) yields things like "near crippled", "arguably one of the weakest", "considered one of the worst" just in the opening paragraphs. This hardly represents an encyclopedic tone. Miles (talk) 18:26, 22 October 2015 (EDT)
- Yes, but you forget that it has been unanimously said how bad Sonic's moveset is, OT's actually discussed this. One of the 5 weakest uairs that is many times slower than MK's dsmash, a bair that is a combination of the worst attributes of Fox's and Falco's, and a jab that deals less than a total of 7%. I think this qualifies as a bad moveset in general. Ganonmew, The Evil Clone 18:49, 22 October 2015 (EDT)
- I'm not saying that his moveset is good. I'm saying there's more neutral ways of discussing it. Did you read the neutral tone guide? Miles (talk) 18:54, 22 October 2015 (EDT)

RFR
Can I at least apply for an RFR if I suck at applying for an RFA? - Drilly the Hedgehog 02:58, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
- If you have the examples to meet the criteria for an RfR, sure. Miles (talk) 03:07, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
SmashWiki to TF2 Wiki
Fun fact: this wiki is MUCH better than that crappy and bullshit TF2 Wiki. - Drilly the Hedgehog 03:24, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
- Okay...? I've never heard of or seen that wiki before, and I don't know why you're telling me this. Thank you, I guess? Miles (talk) 03:26, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
Miles of SmashWiki
Not that I support vandals (it's obvious I don't), but why would you delete your own pages (the ones not in userspace)? - Drilly the Hedgehog 03:31, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
- Are you referring to this? Because it was a spam page made by a vandal, and I don't qualify for one based on SW:NOTE anyway. Also, please fix your signature, as it doesn't follow SW:SIGN. Miles (talk) 03:34, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
- You mean I should just stick with Drilly Dilly and not Drilly the Hedgehog? - Drilly the Hedgehog 03:37, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
- I was referring to the part where your signature links as if your username is "NintendoDrilly", which it's not. You should be linking to your userpage or talkpage, not to those of a user that doesn't exist. Miles (talk) 03:39, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
- Um... GODDAMMIT. That was supposed to be for my other wiki, where my username is NintendoDrilly. Guess I must have copied and pasted it here by mistake. How fucking stupid of me (seriously, I feel embarrassed). Um, hello, earth to Miles: are you there? - Drilly the Hedgehog 03:55, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
- Mistakes happen, don't sweat it too much. It's a simple enough fix. As an aside: you may want to reconsider your usage of user talk pages. They are not an instant messaging system, and should primarily be used for wiki business. Refer to SW:UTPG if you have any questions. Miles (talk) 03:56, 23 October 2015 (EDT)

RFR two edits
Can two of my edits be undos of edits from the same user (Wiz Khalifa)? - Drilly the Hedgehog 04:24, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
- SW:RFR states it pretty clearly: "Avoid using multiple edits that are related, for example three reverts of a single vandal within an hour." Miles (talk) 04:46, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
I'd like to direct you to this
This contains a broken file link, but this user hasn't been active in almost a month and hasn't seemed to respond to any requests of fixing it. I think it might be about time to either fix it ourselves or delete it, whichever you think is better. Disaster Flare (talk) 18:08, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
Blocking that IP
So how did you know that the IP you blocked, 64.237.228.125 (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log · WHOIS), was the same one who did edit warring on Shulk (SSB4)? Dots (talk) The G-Man 21:02, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
- "against warning", not "warring". I issue anyone who edits that trivia point to say "first-party" a one day block. It's a long-resolved point, backed up by clear evidence, and with clear, unmissable comments around it. Anyone editing it is ignoring a warning and re-opening what was long since established. I make it a short block, though, because it's not bad faith so much as it is obliviousness or willful ignorance. Miles (talk) 21:12, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
Founder
Who found this wiki? Also, what happened to all the accounts created prior to 2010 (the year you, Omega, and I created our accounts)? - Drilly the Hedgehog 00:25, 24 October 2015 (EDT)
- Read SmashWiki:About. Miles (talk) 00:26, 24 October 2015 (EDT)
Just curious
When you block an IP, why does it say "anonymous users only" and what does it mean? Serpent∞King (talk) 03:08, 24 October 2015 (EDT)
- There's an option when blocking an IP to "Prevent logged-in users from editing from this IP address". I normally check it in obvious cases on bad faith IP editors, but in instances like the Shulk page trivia thing where it's more stubbornness than ill intent, I don't always bother. Miles (talk) 03:23, 24 October 2015 (EDT)
- So basically just a prevention from having the bad faith IP create an account and continue on? Serpent∞King (talk) 03:26, 24 October 2015 (EDT)
- No, that's the "Prevent account creation" option which generates "account creation disabled" in the block log. The only practical effect of the "prevent logged-in users" option is if the IP was someone who already had an account, or some situation where multiple people share an IP address. Miles (talk) 03:31, 24 October 2015 (EDT)

TheMillerwireless
There's a page called Smasher:TheMillerwireless. This smasher is non notable. Could you delete it? - Drilly the Hedgehog 19:01, 24 October 2015 (EDT)
- There's currently 98 pages in our candidates for notability deletion category. It's a batch job. Miles (talk) 19:10, 24 October 2015 (EDT)
Blocking
Am I worth blocking? - Drilly the Hedgehog 01:31, 25 October 2015 (EDT)
- SW:BLOCK. Please make more of an effort to look up basic questions like these in the help and policy pages before asking. Miles (talk) 02:03, 25 October 2015 (EDT)
Question
How does one tell the difference between a trophy from the 3DS version and its Wii U counterpart if they are made near (or entirely) identical? Serpent∞King (talk) 01:13, 26 October 2015 (EDT)
- I'm not clear on the context of this question. Miles (talk) 01:50, 26 October 2015 (EDT)
- Specifically: Inkling. They are similar if not identical, so how is one supposed to supply an image knowing that it's from the 3DS? Serpent∞King (talk) 01:53, 26 October 2015 (EDT)
This person.
72.50.82.211 (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log · WHOIS) I don't quite wanna call them a vandal, which is why I'm mentioning them here, but they keep undoing the uninteresting Mar- and Lu- trivia, as well as continually changing Shulk to first party. This guy obviously doesn't listen. Disaster Flare (talk) 01:09, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- What if, instead of blocking anyone who changes it, we simply move the shulk trivia point to a sub-page, protect it, then transclude it? Serpent∞King (talk) 02:06, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- Pointlessly roundabout, and could just be removed instead of edited by anyone desperate to change it. Miles (talk) 02:11, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- True, but who would be so desperate? Serpent∞King (talk) 02:12, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- Clearly someone is desperate enough. We could try removing it and see how that goes, as it is unnecessary to have there in the first place. Aardvarkian (Talk • Contributions) 14:09, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- The trivia point is fine. Miles (talk) 14:22, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- Getting rid of it might solve the problem though. Might. If it is taken out, however, it can easily be put back in. Aardvarkian (Talk • Contributions) 14:28, 27 October 2015 (EDT)

Sense of humor
Do you consider yourself (and I guess Omega, too?) the most serious user on this wiki? - Drilly the Hedgehog 04:08, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- I don't particularly think about it in those terms. Again, please try to keep off-topic things like this to a minimum. You have been leaving a heavy number of talk page messages for various users including myself, few of which are particularly relevant to wiki business. Miles (talk) 04:58, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- I apologize. I'm just wondering where I'm supposed to post these messages? - Drilly the Hedgehog 18:52, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- General conversation with other users that isn't related to wiki business is best kept to the forum namespace, the IRC channel, or off-site. Miles (talk) 18:56, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- The best place to discuss non-relevant things would be IRC but you never on there. Where else would you want your questions to be asked? Dots (talk) The GameCube 19:03, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- Maybe I don't particularly want to discuss non-relevant things? I'm not primarily here to socialize. Miles (talk) 19:12, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- Tbh, I dislike how you're usually so serious throughout the website. No offense. - Drilly the Hedgehog 19:19, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- Easy Drilly, be careful with what you say, don't wanna start anything. Disaster Flare (talk) 19:22, 27 October 2015 (EDT)

Guys, come on. I'm not the Big Serious Demon Who Administrates, I'm just trying to focus on the main goal of what this site is here for. Occasional questions, silly asides, etc. are fine in moderation; it just gets to be a little much if overdone. I mean, let me put it this way to you, Drilly: you've been cluttering my talk page kind of a lot lately. A lot of the messages you've been leaving are either things that can easily be looked up on your own, or outright spiteful. I appreciate and respect a degree of socializing and/or curiosity, but please make a bit more of an effort to, say, find answers yourself first. Miles (talk) 19:49, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
- I just wanna say Miles, I have nothing against you, you're doing a great job as an admin, keep up the good work. I'm gonna drop out of this discussion now. Disaster Flare (talk) 19:52, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
Question
Is there any way I can speak to you privately? There's a certain matter I'd like to discuss with you relating to the wiki, but I'd feel more comfortable discussing it in private. Disaster Flare (talk) 01:23, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
- I'd prefer to keep wiki business transparent, not behind closed doors. Miles (talk) 02:09, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
- Understandable, I think instead of explaining it to you, I could just show you this. You should be able to piece it together from there. Disaster Flare (talk) 02:11, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
- I will say I did resolve it in your absence, but it's still something that needs your attention. Disaster Flare (talk) 02:14, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
- I'm watching the situation carefully. Miles (talk) 02:28, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
- Alright, for the most part I'm handling it okay, but I trust you'll step in if it ever gets too out of hand. Disaster Flare (talk) 02:33, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
- No point. I am 100% done with that conversation. Serpent∞King (talk) 02:38, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
