By reading the information here, I noticed that it seems Smash 4 has enough data for (potentially) 2 characters and (potentially) 3 more stages. Personally, I'd like to see a certain professor and a veteran who frankly didn't deserve to be cut, as well as a stage based on the main area from Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. However, I'm curious to see your guys's thoughts. Aidanzapunksignature.pngAidan, Master of Speed and AuraAidanzapunkSignaturesmall.PNG 16:55, 14 September 2015 (EDT)

I wouldn't like to see new characters so much as I would like an alt. costumes. For characters and stages, I would like Wolf, Impa, and Samurai Goroh. As for stages, I would prefer Green Hill Zone and an 8-Bit version of Mushroomy Kingdom that goes through all of the original levels, with the terrain popping out of the background. My personal assumption based on "Character Pack 1" having 4 characters is that there will be a "Character Pack 2" of roughly the same size, implying 3-5 more characters total from this point. As for stages, I expect maybe a few more past stages plus a new one for any newcomers from a new series (as they did with Suzaku Castle). Of course, there's lots of stuff that I think might be cool, but it's easy to get greedy and I'm aiming to keep my expectations realistic. Miles (talk) 17:11, 14 September 2015 (EDT)

@Miles, I find it curious that the one character that I want in Smash appears in your list of Assist Trophies. Might I ask why you think of him more as an Assist Trophy as opposed to an actual fighter? Mostly general lack of familiarity with the Layton series making it hard for me to request him as a playable character. On a slightly different note, I kind of wonder if he's in danger of having the role of Level-5 representative stolen by Jibanyan. Miles (talk) 17:15, 14 September 2015 (EDT)
Layton is perfectly capable of holding his own, for the record. As stated in one of the games, Layton studied fencing in college. Aidanzapunksignature.pngAidan, Master of Speed and AuraAidanzapunkSignaturesmall.PNG 17:22, 14 September 2015 (EDT)
The complicating factor is, if I understand correctly, Layton's swordfighting isn't really the main gist of the series. It's not like Zelda or Fire Emblem where characters fighting with swords is a major component of the gameplay. Isn't the gameplay of Layton games mostly puzzles? Because if so, it would seem like his moveset should derive more from that. Miles (talk) 17:27, 14 September 2015 (EDT)
Mostly. I mean, if put like that, then he isn't really perceived as a fighter, but hey, there's been multiple cases like this in the past, so who's to say that he can't be given the same treatment? Not saying it's impossible by any means; just was explaining reasons I was hesitant to include him. Miles (talk) 17:33, 14 September 2015 (EDT)

(Reset indent) Yes, and I was explaining my side of the argument. I mean, frankly, there are some characters who I think would definitely fit the Smash series, ranging from characters who've only made one minor appearance in Smash to heavily requested characters, but in terms of third parties, I think Layton has the best chance. (Also, the Layton series, as stated on Wikipedia, is considered Level 5's most successful series.) Its sad to see that Samus and Zero Suit Samus are the only good candidates to be in a Smash Bros. game (sucks to be big, Ridley); but what I would like is some Donkey Kong Country characters as DLC such as King K. Rool and to an extent, Banjo and Kazooie. Dots (talk) Mega Man X SNES sprite.png The Pizza 19:07, 14 September 2015 (EDT)

Banjo and Kazooie would have been a shoo-in in 1999. These days, though, I doubt Nintendo wants to turn Smash into a Rare Replay advertisement. As for Metroid, I still think a Zebesian Space Pirate would be a good way to get another Metroid rep. Thinking about the wall-climbing and projectile shooting moves they show off, plus the mini-boss ones outside Ridley's room in Super Metroid, I can see moveset potential; they're also more reasonably humanoid-sized. In theory, it would also be a way they could bring in Ridley as a Final Smash. Miles (talk) 19:15, 14 September 2015 (EDT)

A Zebesian Space Pirate would be cool, but I doubt that would ever get in because it's a generic enemy in the Metroid universe. I personally would love to see Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X. It'd be great to advertise for the game, and doesn't a character who switches between dual guns and blades sound cool? Smashedpotatoes (talk) 19:19, 14 September 2015 (EDT)

Yeah, I fully expect Cross or Elma to be in SSB5. Might be too new for SSB4 DLC, though. I kind of expect them to save Wii U characters like one of those or the Inkling for SSB5 just so they have some A- and B-list characters left for then. Miles (talk) 19:25, 14 September 2015 (EDT)
