User talk:Qwerty
Hi there!
Welcome to our wiki, and thank you for your contributions! There's a lot to do around here, so I hope you'll stay with us and make many more improvements.
- Read this first as it provides many great resources designed to help users get oriented with the wiki and become part of the community.
- Visit the recent changes to see what other people are editing right this minute, and where you can help.
- Questions? You can ask at the help desk or on the "discussion" page associated with each article, or post a message on my talk page!
- Need help? The community portal has an outline of the site, and pages to help you learn how to edit.
I'm really happy to have you here, and look forward to working with you!

- Thanks, but I've already read most of these things when I was an IP.Qwerty (talk) 12:47, 17 May 2014 (EDT)

SW:SIGN
Hi, your current signature is in violation of our signature policy on two counts:
- You can't use an image in your signature that's for use within the mainspace. If you want the Ness head icon, you must upload a duplicate specifically for use in your signature.
- You can't use text colors in your signature that makes it difficult to read on our default white background. You must either change your text color to something more readable against white, or add a background to your signature that makes bright yellow text readable.
Go and fix these asap. Omega Tyrant 14:27, 18 May 2014 (EDT)
- His signature is perfectly readable to me. It is a darker yellow, so it is pretty clear against the white background. But the image issue needs to be taken care of. ChuckNorris 14:42, 18 May 2014 (EDT)
Since you obviously know how, how can I make my signature a different color? 1blitzer1 (talk) 23:35, 5 November 2014 (EST)
- Next time, you can create a new section at the bottom for this type of stuff; when I got the new message box, I had a bit of trouble finding your post. And to color your signature, you can use the <span> or <font> tags. You can read this to figure out how. After reading it, go into your Preferences and scroll down to the section that reads Signature. Write down whatever you want in the box; and check the box marked 'Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link)'. These changes won't appear on the Recent Changes, so you can keep saving your signature over and over again until you have the right one. If you don't get anything, just come back here and ask. YOUR EDIT SUMMARIES
ARE IN ALL CAPS FOR NO REASON AND REALLY SERVE TO DO NOTHING BUT MAKE US PAY ATTENTION TO HOW YOU'RE OVERFOCUSING ON CHANGING LINKS INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY ADDING MEANINGFUL CONTENT TO THE WIKI IN OTHER WAYS, SUCH AS COMPETITIVE CONTENT OR FIXING THE STUBS. Seriously though, you're doing bot work, and although that's appreciated, you could tone down your edit summaries, because there are other ways to improve the Wiki, and your method is not the primary method. The two H templates
They're good templates to have, but I don't get the name. What does "H" have to do with links to sections and anchors? Toomai Glittershine The Xanthic 00:47, 18 June 2014 (EDT)
- H is for hashtag.Qwerty the lord 00:59, 18 June 2014 (EDT)
- Hmm that's rather unintuitive, since the term "hashtag" is exclusive to social media. I'll try to come up with something most users would understand. Toomai Glittershine The Glow 09:38, 18 June 2014 (EDT)
Grammar Stuff
"They wield a spike on their back, which deals 4% damage, and they possess the ability to walk on walls."
Let's remove the non-essential adjective clause first.
"They wield a spike on their back, and they possess the ability to walk on walls." is a valid statement.
"They wield a spike on their back and possess the ability to walk on walls." is also a valid statement, because the ability possession still belongs to the "they", even if the comma stayed there. Both sentences are grammatically correct, although the second one is more streamlined for us. Removing the "which", however, made the sentence a lot easier to understand if that was confusing. MegaTron1XD 01:44, 12 July 2014 (EDT)
- "They wield a spike on their back, which deals 4% damage, and possess the ability to walk on walls."
- Nowhere in your post did it say this, which is what's actually on the page. Look, "which deals 4% damage" is an appositive under normal circumstances, not an adjective clause. However, when you add in the last part, and it becomes an adjective clause. Now, both the middle part and ending part become adjective clauses of the spike. In no universe is that grammatically correct.Qwerty the lord 11:45, 12 July 2014 (EDT)
- Um. Are you sure you're not missing the point of removing the clause?--Starman125 (talk) 13:21, 12 July 2014 (EDT)
I must have been tired as hell yesterday. Posting examples.
- "Mega has a dollar, which is worth $1 USD, and can also run a marathon"
- "Mega has a dollar, which is worth $1 USD and can also run a marathon."
You can remove the non-essential clause to make the sentence easier to understand. The second sentence is a case in which both parts of the description apply to the "dollar". The first sentence sets apart the non-essential clause with a comma so that the marathon description part applies to Mega, and not the dollar. This is how most people would interpret the two sentences, but some regions teach weird stuff. But honestly, it doesn't matter when the original sentence was fixed to be less confusing anyway. This edit summary...
...is unnecessarily rude and hostile. Just because you have a differing point of view on some character's hair colour does not give you the liberty of claiming that someone else is inferior to you (such as by implying their God-given vision is worse than your own).
Ciao.

Minor edits such as link changing
Should probably be marked as minor edits so that when people like me check on the recent changes, we have the option to ignore those minor edits because they don't really need a quality check of any sort. MegaTron1XD 16:00, 18 July 2014 (EDT)
- Sorry. I'm trying to speed through the 75 or so pages and I didn't have time. I'll start doing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Qwerty (talk • contribs) 15:02, July 18, 2014 (CDT)
Image names
Be sure to check an image you want to upload before uploading the image, so the file name you may be giving it won't be misleading. Your image that you titled BoomerangSSB4.jpg had no boomerangs in it; the gust of wind was actually from an Ore Club held by Link in that image. It has been moved to a better fitting name. - I'll get to them. I'm doing the pages character by character, in 8 page groups, as to not clog the Recent Changes. When I get to Samus, they'll be created. Qwerty (talk) 19:25, 1 October 2014 (EDT)
- Don't worry, I got them. Rtzxy Smashing! 19:34, 1 October 2014 (EDT)
- On second thought, I guess I'll stop making them for the time being. The special move names are inconsistent on the special move pages and the Character customization page are inconsistent, and I'll wait until I can get clear names. Qwerty (talk) 18:51, 2 October 2014 (EDT)

Qwerty, I'm sorry that I did not understand the rules here, I really should've look at the rules before making an account, and I like to add trivia because I'm a trivial kind of guy, especially when it comes to video games. Pac attack (talk) 21:07, 20 October 2014 (EDT) Pac attack
- Don't worry, new users tend to slip up here. Also, when you respond to a message, respond on the page the message was originally posted on, not the poster's talk page. Qwerty (talk) 02:19, 21 October 2014 (EDT)
Image redirect deletion
When tagging an image redirect for deletion, you should either put the template below the redirect, or remove all references to the redirect first. The way you did it for the Duck Hunt image recently, it broke all the usages of the existing link. Toomai Glittershine The Resolute 23:59, 30 October 2014 (EDT)
Wario's special moves
There was a official Smash Bros Brawl guide in Japan which lists the move origins of the newcomers in Brawl. The Corkscrew was not listed at all in the move origin section. This in addition to being totally from Wario World's Corkscrew Conk in both appearance and function, means the Corkscrew in Smash bros is a Smash bros original move.
