Congratulations on Rollback!

The fact that it passed aside, in doing that RfR and being able to take someone's advice when they advise against something you had planned on, which is not an easy thing to do, you have earned my respect. :) DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 23:17, 27 January 2012 (EST)

Gee, thanks. I wasn't sure that I would pass, because of previously mentioned reasons. Is it true that rollbackers can suppress redirects when moving pages? Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 23:24, 27 January 2012 (EST)

Image deletion

When an image is deleted, a version is automatically archived, but only admins can see it. For example, the old HungryBox image can be found here. You can't see it, because you don't have the required user rights, but trust me, that's the image I deleted five minutes ago. That means that, if we ever need the image again, an admin can just undelete the page, or go to that URL and save the image to their computer, then upload it again. You don't need to be re-uploading images tagged for deletion to archive them. PenguinofDeath 16:26, 29 January 2012 (EST)

Friendly tip

Yes, you should remove red links to deleted files, but it's also courteous to also link in any replacement images for the file (i.e. the new Multiman Mode pic). --Havoc48 >:D!!! 19:56, 3 February 2012 (EST)

I usually do link in replacement images when moving files/removing redlinks, but in your case, I didn't know what the new image name was. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 22:35, 3 February 2012 (EST)

No

How nobody noticed this I don't know, but you using rollback on Dot's Smasher page edits (you know, when he was removing blank fields) was unacceptable. Rollback is for vandalism only, and that wasn't vandalism. I assume you did it to get the job done faster, but don't do it again, as it is misuse of rollback. BlindColours Boing.png 20:46, 3 February 2012 (EST)

As you assumed, I used rollback to get the job done faster. The reason no one commented on it was because it was not a misuse of rollback. (Unless you're suggesting that everyone missed my 20+ consecutive edits that were in bolded green due to the high number of characters). I was following the spirit of SW:ROLL, not the letter. Additionally, I explained my edits on Dots' talk page. I would suggest you find something else to do besides berate users about their actions on this wiki. The majority of your past 50 edits have been to talk pages, the Smash Arena, or other minor edits. And frankly, couldn't you come up with a better section title? "No" isn't descriptive at all, and makes you sound more pugnacious than you are. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 22:16, 3 February 2012 (EST)
My 50 most recent edits have little relevance to anything. I'm not as active as I once was so I don't do much, and when I do, it's nothing major. Also, how are you "following" the "spirit" of SW:ROLL? And I don't really care about what you think about the section title.BlindColours Boing.png 22:29, 3 February 2012 (EST)
Mousehunter explained to Dots the fault with the edits before he rollbacked them. And really, the only issue with using rollback on non vandal edits is that you don't have access to the edit summary to explain the fault with the edit. As the explanation was made, there was really no issue with Mousehunter using rollback in those edits. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 22:59, 3 February 2012 (EST)
You two guys have been getting into a fair amount of disputes lately. Blindcolors, while I disagree with Mousehunter's claim that you have an overly large amount of talk page edits, it may be best that you leave him alone for now. It's fine for you to raise concerns about rollback use, but I think the way you approached this was a bit too aggressive. Remember to try and see things from Mousehunter's point of view, and consider the fact that those rollback uses took up a large amount of recent changes, so it is likely that Dots himself and the admins here had little problem. Thanks for tagging those! I'm about to head to dinner, so either another admin can swoop in while I'm out or I'll get 'em when I get back. Miles (talk) 18:49, 9 February 2012 (EST)

No problem! Those early SmashWiki(di)ans would probably look back and realize that it was more efficient to merge trophy info into the subject's article, instead of creating a whole separate page. If SmashWiki is still around in say, ten years, I wonder what the editors then will think of how we do things today. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 18:57, 9 February 2012 (EST)

redlinks

I've seen you remove some, but you have quite a few on your page. Wouldn't it be better to remove the links until the pages are actually made? Kid Iclaus! 00:14, 13 February 2012 (EST)

It's better to keep a list so you can easily remember what Smasher page you need to research and make later on. 108.194.146.241 01:14, 13 February 2012 (EST)
Lists? I was only asking if the red links should be removed, not the list itself. The Smasher names can stay, but the links shouldn't.Kid Iclaus! 02:38, 14 February 2012 (EST)
Mousehunter has it this way so that, if ever he wanted to make one of these articles, he could just click the link on his page, and he's on his way. By listing them as redlinks, it also allows users other than Mousehunter to make the page themselves if they so choose. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 06:07, 14 February 2012 (EST)
Mousehunter removes redlinks because they mess up Special:Wantedpages. However, redlinka are perfectly fine if they are to an article that may warrant creation in the future. Hence, Mousehunter keeps a list of OK redlinks so that wantedpages actually shows the right pages. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 18:59, 14 February 2012 (EST)

The image

The image is hacked since the player in the image has just spent at least one coin winning a new trophy yet still has the maximum amount. An editor of the Lottery page wanted the image replaced because of this, yet when I uploaded the new version it didn't change. Do you have any thoughts on this? 123JamesHeart PatheticStickFigure.jpg 20:07, 9 April 2012 (EDT)

It looks like that's the highest quality I can get. 123JamesHeart PatheticStickFigure.jpg 21:00, 9 April 2012 (EDT)

Quick question

How were you able to edit this image? When I tried to edit the image, I was unable to because it said that it was protected. ..... The Cutest NintenNESsprite.png 18:42, 25 April 2012 (EDT)

The image was previously included on User:Zeldasmash, which was protected by cascading protection. Basically, this means that any file on his page is also protected. I had PenguinofDeath change the Mewtwo icon for the new Mewtwo icon, so the old file can now be edited, but the new one now cannot. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 19:44, 25 April 2012 (EDT)

Undoing Edits

I checked the Sonic page and I see you undid the edit about the infamous April Fools Day joke. While I'm not mad at you or anything I would like to know your reason for undoing it and what you meant by "Duplicate Content". Also, Every other Pokemon character lists their species as who they are. (i.e. Pikachu's species is Pikachu, Pichu's species is Pichu, etc.) Why should Lucario be any different? I did check the Bulbapedia article but "Lucario" is more specific and accurate. Again, I'm not mad at you at all. I just would like you to explain your reasoning for undoing them. ChuckNorris24 (talk) 17:48, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

By duplicate content I meant that you just copied the section from the list of rumors article and pasted it onto the Sonic the Hedgehog page. If you're willing to write a summary of the rumor, that's fine, but having two articles display the exact same content without reason looks unprofessional. About the Pokémon thing: I think the confusion stemmed from the fact that some pages had the Pokémon name, while others gave a more descriptive species, and as the issue was never resolved, gradually the pages were changed over to their current state. It is my belief that while a Pokémon's species is its "name", as in Pikachu's species is "Pikachu", it's more informative if we followed Bulbapedia's convention and used a term such as "Mouse Pokémon" for the species. Otherwise, there would be little purpose in having "species" in the infobox. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 17:56, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

Ok, maybe I'll write a summary sometime but not right now. I think I will change all the current Pokemon species to what the Bulbapedia articles say. You've successfully persuaded me to follow Bulbapedia's more informative way. ChuckNorris24.png 18:10, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

The title Mouse Pokémon is what we would consider a sub-species, and for the sakes of consistency (i.e. with Mario being a human and all that), we should list Pichu as a Pichu etc. If you really feel otherwise, it would have been better to bring this up on a talk page, rather than just undoing the edits of others. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 18:10, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

I guess you're right. I don't know what I was thinking. Good thing I only changed Pichu's page. I'll change it back. But which method should we go by?ChuckNorris24.png 18:23, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

Neither, until a decision is made. I'll undo your Pichu edit for now for the sakes of consistency. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 18:19, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

Ok, thanks. But how is a decision going to be made?ChuckNorris24.png 18:23, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

By other users stating their opinions on the matter. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 18:27, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

Bulbapedia says that a Pokémon's species is a name which identifies the Pokémon based on one of its defining biological characteristics, which is separate from the real-world concept of a species. Pikachu's species is Mouse Pokémon, not Pikachu. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 18:41, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

The Bulbapedia article on 'Species' specifies it as that way, because the Pokédex has a sub-section called Species, giving the Pokémon these titles. However, these are little more than secondary names, as the fact of the matter is that all Shellder are of the Shellder species. It'd be like listing Mario's species as Plumber. In infoboxes on Bulbapedia, they put these titles as their species, because the infobox is referencing its 'species' from the Pokédex. But this ain't Bulbapedia, it's SmashWiki, and all we use the species section for is to specify a character's general species. Using these sub-species titles on the Pokémon articles would cause for a great inconsistency amongst all the other articles which list a character's true species. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 19:13, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

It appears that dots has edited every Pokemon's page (except Lucario's) to say that there species is who they are. Would it be Ok to change Lucario's page?ChuckNorris24.png 19:43, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

Take note that we have not made a consensus and Dots has been reprimanded here. And another I think we should take this to a forum. LightningBlue 20:51, 9 July 2012 (EDT)
