Is there any template that allows you to substitute something "back" into a template? This is for allowing you to type ~~~~ and get a templated sig. Smiddle (talk) 05:59, 26 December 2010 (EST)

I don't see this being possible. Toomai Glittershine ??? 10:18, 26 December 2010 (EST)
Yes it is. If I remember correctly, you create a template saying {{{{{1}}}}}. Let's call the template A, and the template that you want to un-substitute B. Then, all you have to do is {{SUBST:A|B}}, resulting in {{B}}. Judging by your reply, I am assuming that it doesn't exist and I'm creating it (just to be sure, I searched through Category:Templates). ...what??? If I'm understanding what you wrote it's the most pointless thing ever; you can just copy the code from the template and put it where you want it. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Emissary 16:29, 26 December 2010 (EST)
Some sigs, like mine, take up an assload of space in terms of code. This template makes it possible to display just "{{User:Smiddle/sig}}" instead of aforementioned assload, while it still only requires you to type ~~~~. Smiddle ( TalkConts ) 18:58, 26 December 2010 (EST)
Read SW:SIGN; you're not allowed to have such a signature. Sigs must be substituted if you use a subpage for them, and once substituted they must be short enough to fit in the signature box in Preferences. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Eggster 19:36, 26 December 2010 (EST)
