Computer Player

A Computer Player is a computer-controlled character or entity in Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They appear in various forms, including nearly all 1-P Mode forms of gameplay and, more commonly, as artificially intelligent opponents in Versus Mode. Unlike human players, they use Artificial Intelligence. They are programmed never to create an infinite combo that can not be escaped by a human player.

"Using" a computer player.

In Training mode, it is possible to "use" a computer player. By changing the settings of the CPU character to "control", a player using a different controller can control the character , while still having the gray background by the character's profile picture and still being labeled with "CPU" when the cursor appear on top of the character.
