—Introduction tagline |
Kazuya is an upcoming playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was officially announced at the E3 Nintendo Direct on June 15th, 2021 as the fifth downloadable character from Fighters Pass Vol. 2. He is the first playable fighter from the Tekken series, and the second character from Bandai Namco after Pac-Man. Kazuya is classified as Fighter #81.
Moveset
Kazuya's moveset is heavily derived from his home series. Several of his moves involve him briefly morphing into Devil Gene Kazuya before turning back to normal.

Trivia
- Kazuya's repeated act of tossing other fighters into a volcano during his reveal trailer is a reference to Heihachi Mishima doing the same thing throughout the Tekken franchise, as well as Kazuya tossing Heihachi off a cliff in his endings in Tekken 1 and Tekken 7.
- Kazuya's fighter artwork is the only one that features a glimmer on any part of the character (in Kazuya's case, his left eye).
- The splash art for Kazuya is the second that uses a font other than DF Gothic Japanese, the first being that of Piranha Plant.
- The 3D text for his "Gets ready for the next battle" tagline is taken from Tekken 7 's battle loading screen, albeit with "Get" replaced with "Gets" to be grammatically correct.
- While originally the protagonist and main hero of the original Tekken, his descent into villainy starting with Tekken 2 makes him the second Third-party playable antagonist as well as the second DLC antagonist after Sephiroth.
- Strangely, the UK version of the Super Smash Bros. website says "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate x Kazuya" instead of Tekken in one of the banners. However, the UK video presentation still says Tekken. This is similar to how in the US broadcasts of Nintendo Directs, some M-rated games had their name censored with a character's name, usually the protagonist or a prominent character. Though, even more strangely, Tekken is only rated T, rather than M.
