GENESIS is an ongoing tournament series held annually in Oakland, California (previously in San Jose, California and Antioch, California). The tournament, first held in 2009, is organized and directed by Boback and the DBR crew. It is currently widely regarded as one of the premier Smash tournaments outside of EVO and one of the largest Smash-centered tournaments in the world (along with Super Smash Con), after Apex's decline in popularity and the organization of GENESIS 3 five years after its previous installment.
