First look at Sprits

Spirits are a type of power-up in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. They are also featured in the Spirits adventure mode, where they assist the fighters in defeating Galeem. Spirits can be seen as similar to Smash 4's equipment. They also replace Trophies seen from earlier installments.

Spirits are characters who lost their bodies and were transformed into spirits.

Support Spirits

Certain spirits have slots which can be filled by support spirits. The support spirits will give fighters additional skills. They can be useful when encountering traps.

Spirit Battles

Spirits are obtained in Spirit Battles, which appear similar Smash 4's Special Orders. Battles can be selected from the Spirit Board. The battles will have diffrent challenges separate from regular battles and the spirits will be paired with fighters that appear similar. One can obtain the spirit by hitting the puppet fighter to acquire the spirit within. Puppet fighters have a shield to to prevent the spirit from being squired, however the damage to the shield carries over to the next time that spirit is encountered.

You can let spirits return to their worlds in exchange for their cores, which can be combined to summon new spirits. Spirits are able to level up by training in the dojo and gym, or by being sent to find treasure regardless if playing another mode or if the system is powered off. Some spirits have an enhanced form if they level up enough.

New facilities can be unlocked by beating Master spirits.

Spirits can also power up Amiibo Figure fighters, but they won't come back after using them and can be done multiple times.

Final Smash Meter

The Final Smash Meter will be active when fighting a spirit, and certain spirits can make the gauge fill up faster.

Simulate Battles

Both the fighter and the stages will allow otherwise impossible battles.
