Tokyo vs. Kyoto refers to test matches that took place between Nintendo's headquarters in Kyoto and the development team in Tokyo to test out the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the Nintendo Network for Super Smash Bros. 4. The distance between these two cities is 283.9 miles (456.9 km), about the same distance between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Videos of two matches were released to the public on Smash Bros. DOJO!!, one on the English site and a different one on the Japanese site.
- Japanese site: Snake, Ike, Kirby and Mario on Delfino Plaza
- English site: Mario, Link, Samus and Sonic on Lylat Cruise
Super Smash Bros. 4
A number of test matches between Tokyo and Kyoto were performed in Smash 4's development, and some clips of these matches, labelled as "Tokyo vs. Kyoto", were featured in the Smash Bros.
