Abate is a smasher from Pittsburgh and originally from New Jersey who mains Luigi in Melee. He is considered one of the best Luigi mains in the world along with Eddy Mexico and Blea Gelo. Originally a Falco and Marth player, he used Luigi as a counterpick character against Forward after losing the first two games in convincing fashion. After taking inspiration from fellow Pittsburgh Luigi player, Vudujin, he has used Luigi as his main character of choice, overthrowing his inspiration as the best Luigi. He has placed consistently high at most tournaments he participates in and has taken sets off of top smashers, including Hax, Cactuar, Westballz, Mike Haze, Axe, Duck, DruggedFox, and S2J. His most stellar performance was at The Big House 5 (the 3rd largest Melee tournament of all time) where he placed 7th and defeated players such as Axe and S2J. Because of this performance, many have come to think that he is the greatest Melee Luigi player in the world. Abate was ranked 34th on the 2014 SSBM Player Rankings. He is currently ranked 1st on the Pittsburgh Melee Power Rankings and 33rd on the 2015 SSBMRank.
