Spear Pillar made its debut in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl where Dialga and Palkia can be captured. It is set in the Sinnoh region.

Stage history

Spear Pillar debuts in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, and can be found at the top of Mt. Coronet. In this game, the two legendary Pokémon Palkia and Dialga can be found at Spear Pillar. Team Galactic, the antagonists of Diamond & Pearl, travel up to Spear Pillar and awaken Dialga/Palkia in order to control the world. Dawn/Lucas travel up to Spear Pillar, where they impede Team Galactics plan to control the legendary Pokémon by defeating their boss Cyrus. Upon defeat, Team Galactic retreats and the player has the opportunity to catch Dialga/Palkia. High above the Spear Pillar is the Hall of Origin, where the omnipotent legendary Pokémon Arceus resides.

In the Super Smash Bros. series

Spear Pillar is a playable stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Dialga, Palkia, and Cresselia make cameo appearances in the background to devastate the players. It is a destructible stage, which also features a cave underneath the surface which players can brawl in. Spear Pillar can be unlocked by completing Event 25.

Stage Elements

After the first few seconds in battle, Dialga, Palkia, or Cresselia will show up in the background of the stage. The player can tell what Pokémon will appear by the color of the stage. The Pokemon will perform different attacks when they appear. Dialga will shoot a vertical beam covering 1/3 of the stage, Palkia will fire a horizontal beam covering the bottom level and can lower gravity making you jump higher and fall slower, and Dialga and Palkia will both create abnormalities within the stage's dimensions, such as Roar of Time, which can slow down the time of the stage temporarily, and Spacial Rend, which can tilt the stage, flip it sideways, or turn it upside-down. They can also destroy part of the floor. On occasion, Dialga will also leap off of his pedestal and attack players, it will sometimes tilt the stage, but not as much as Palkia. Cresselia is quite different, having only 2 attacks, both probably based on "psycho cut". One affects only the top layer, and is successive blades fired from one central aread above Cresselia. The other is a boomerang blade that traverses all of the stage in different ways. She is the only one of the three who does not distort the stage in any fashion.

Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit, also make appearances here. However, these Pokémon only sit and watch; they do not conduct any other experiments on the stage.

Trivia

  • In the Pokemon RPGs, Cresselia has no connection to Spear Pillar at all. Other than Dialga and Palkia, the one who would have the most connection would be Giratina or Arceus.
