Squirtle is a water-type Pokémon, which was first seen in Pokémon (Red, Blue). In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it is one of the three controllable Pokémon (the others are Charizard and Ivysaur) used by Pokémon Trainer. Squirtle is the lightweight Pokémon of the trio, with quick, but not quite as damaging moves. In the Pokémon series, Squirtle evolves into Wartortle, which evolves into Blastoise, which also appears in the Smash Bros. series as a Pokémon that can appear from a Poké Ball.
