Fire Flower.

The Fire Flower comes from the Super Mario Bros. series where grabbing a Fire Flower would give you the ability to throw fireballs.

It made it's debut in Super Smash Bros.

When holding a Fire Flower, hitting A (be it in the air or on the ground) will make the flower start spewing fire in the direction you're facing. Though you can stop shooting fire at any time and resume it at a later time, the amount of fire each flower has is set and once that amount has run out, the Fire Flower will only shoot out harmless smoke.

Throwing the Fire Flower will set anyone it hits on fire (though without any significant knockback).
