It was the final tournament of the EVO 2007 circuit, which consisted of EVO South, EVO North, EVO West, and EVO East. The top 8 finishers for each of the previous events were automatically qualified for the bracket round at EVO World.[1] It was the largest Melee tournament before the international release of Brawl with 270 players in attendance.
