My Story

On December 25, 2009, I got my copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and I loved it. I played it almost everyday, playing through classic mode, subspace emissary, and staying up all night on the weekends to get those trophies and stickers. I'll admit Brawl has sorta aged poorly and is not as fun as I remember it being, but it still remains my 2nd favorite smash game to date. On March 11, 2013 (probably), I received Super Smash Bros. Melee and just Brawl, I loved it. I got the trophies, cleared almost every event match, almost unlocked every character, let my friend borrow my gamecube and my copy of the game, lost my memory card which I had for like 5 years, and not Melee touching again for 2 years, ahh... good times. I eventually did receive a new memory card and while Melee is a solid game, it remains my least favorite smash game (never played the original Smash Bros and Project M doesn't exist to me, sorry guys). On December 25, 2014, I received Smash 3DS and on March 13, 2015 I received Smash for Wii U and you probably know the story by now, play it every day, trophies, the characters, blah, blah, blah. Smash 4 is my favorite smash game to date and is the best smash game I'm the most skilled in. You can go home now, you probably have something better to do, but remember, I love you :).

Questions you didn't ask and answers you don't want

  • Why is your name HawkSoulBacon? It was the only name I could think off the top of my head.
  • Why do you play so many characters? Because I'm one of those guys who can't just play only one or two characters.
  • Why don't you like Melee or Project M? I know this gonna be a very unpopular opinion, but Melee in my eyes is a very unbalanced game that relies too much exploits. If it wasn't for Wavedashing, V-cancelling, chain grabbing, and other stuff, Melee probably wouldn't be as popular as it is now. Project M is much more balanced version of Melee and it shares the same issues I've already said.
  • Why did let your friend borrow your GameCube and Melee? Because I'm a really nice guy and he really wanted it. I've now learned my lesson.
  • Do you really love me? Of course I do and don't let anyone tell you otherwise :).

Other Mains

  • Dropped mains (Characters I played very early on, but dropped for multiple reasons: not getting buffed or nerfed, didn't fit my playstyle, very awful early in the game's life, etc. I do play these characters every now and then and I'm considering picking them up again.): Dark Pit, Kirby, Villager, Lucina, Robin and Diddy Kong.
  • Semi-mains (characters I play often, but not played enough to be considered main status.): Pac-Man, Mega Man Sonic, and Samus.
  • Pocket mains (characters I occasionally play every now and then.): Dr. Mario, Sheik, and Mewtwo.

Competency Chart

Stole the code from Ganonmew lol (i hope that's not bad). This not a tier list obviously (I might make that one day), it's just the characters I like playing the most.

Melee

IntenseDifficulty.png

Lasers, reflector combos, down air, and that Japanese voice acting, what more can you ask for? But he drops like a freaking rock and his booty tier recovery doesn't help much. Everything I love about Falco is here and his recovery is actually good. But you probably shouldn't play him if you value your hands. He may be slow as molasses without wavedashing, but he has excellent power and landing a Warlock Punch feels so good. But his recovery is terrible. Has excellent speed, and power to top it off. But his recovery is awful. So much stronger than regular Mario. But his recovery sucks (seems to be a running theme). Great disjointed range, amazing edge-guarding skills and the ability to grab people from 2 feet away is too good to pass up.

VeryHardDifficulty.png

Has potentially the best air game out of all the characters and a frame 1 special that can KO as low as 20%. So good. Very average and easy to play. Great combos and frame data. But her recovery sucks. I love trapping people.

HardDifficulty.png

Down smash and turnips are fun. Doesn't really fit my playstyle, but he has good zoning. Up smash is good but its lack of range sucks. I just use him for wavedash practice lol. Same thing with Link.

NormalDifficulty.png

Only good thing about Mewtwo is its recovery. Other than, its just awful. I just don't play her that much. I love grabs that don't work and a nonexistent recovery. He has the power, but his recovery sucks and he's way too slow. Absolutely no vertical recovery. Just awful. Laggy aerials and I don't like him.

EasyDifficulty.png

I know he's one of my mains, but he's just awful. He's probably one of the worst designed characters in the game and everything works against him. I love Earthbound, but...ugh. Awful. I don't need to say anything else. Literally one of the worst things ever created in the history of mankind.

Brawl

IntenseDifficulty.png

I know the 10 extra frames on his grab release is garbage, but I still love him. He's got good frame data, he's fun to play, and Mother 3 is one of my favorite games. Same thing with Lucas on the 10 extra frames crap, but I love Earthbound and he's so much better than he was in Melee. I don't care if he's the worst character in the game, winning with him feels so good. Frame 1 grenades, an amazing down throw, and seeing Snake in Smash Bros is so cool. He may have a balls recovery, but he is so much fun to play. I love the Pikmin pressure, but his recovery sucks. Pew Pew. And I just love that Brooklyn accent. Obviously.

VeryHardDifficulty.png

Pew pew pew pew pew. This my least favorite version of Fox, however. I use to play him when I was younger and some good memories with him. Just like Luigi I have many fond memories of playing it. They're so good and I'd be lying if I said I don't sorta miss them. I don't think he's as bad as every one says he is. His ability to grab people from 2 feet away is gone, but he's still amazing nonetheless.

HardDifficulty.png

His recovery is ironically bad, but flying around like Jigglypuff is much fun. She's pretty fun. Bananas. Chain grabbing Fox is fun, but its air game sucks. I miss her down smash. Just like Link, but actually good, but he still has flaws. He's still average and his easy to play, but this is my least favorite version of him. I like him better than in Melee, but he still has no vertical recovery.

NormalDifficulty.png

HYAAHHAYA Other than that, I just don't like him that much. Despite being a Pokemon fan, I just don't play it at all. See Charizard. See Squirtle. He's better...I guess. 2slow4me. Good zoning but he sucks in this game. She's got the speed, but she sucks.

EasyDifficulty.png

Use to be my main until I grow and realized how much he sucked. Ugh. Just terrible. Same as in Melee. Play Wario. He's better than he was in Melee, but just like Ike, he's 2slow4me. Bleh. So many bad memories.
