A non-playable character (sometimes unplayable character) is a character featured in a game that cannot be controlled by a player via any legitimate means. Most of the time, such characters are controlled by the game, such as enemies and bosses. These characters can be controlled via the use of a GameShark or Action Replay, but since these characters are not meant to be playable, they can cause glitches and/or freeze the game.
