Apex 2015 is the upcoming sixth tournament in the Apex series of tournaments, directed by Team Apex, and held from January 30th-February 1st, 2015, in at the Clarion Hotel Empire Meadowlands in Secaucus, New Jersey. Like previous tournaments of the series, Apex 2015 will host a variety of fighting games, including singles and doubles events for Super Smash Bros. 64, Melee, Brawl, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Apex 2015 is officially partnered with Nintendo of America[1], although the full details of this partnership have not been revealed. One such inclusion will be a lounge where attendees can play a demo version of Splatoon.[2] Additionally, Nintendo and ScrewAttack will provide an second livestream for the last day of the tournament designed to be clearer for newcomers to competitive Smash.[3] An apparent side effect of the partnership is the absence of Project M from the tournament's game lineup.
As the tournament was set to begin, the hotel venue was shut down by New Jersey police and fire marshals, due to illegal violation of fire and building codes, which double as breaches of contract with the tournament organizers. The tournament is presently on hold until an alternative venue can be found.
