Deep Breathing (腹式呼吸, Abdominal Breathing) is the Wii Fit Trainer's down special move.

Overview

When used, a pink circle fills an outline over approximately 2 seconds. When this is finished, Wii Fit Trainer's attacks are powered up for a period of time. Though not directly stated, it is implied that players may need to press the button again as the white ring touches the red circle at the right time, as evident in the fact that both the male and female Wii Fit Trainers were shown using the move in the Super Smash Bros. Direct, with the male Trainer failing.

If the player uses the move again, it will take much longer, most likely to prevent the player from spamming the move to make the Trainer's attack power get higher constantly.

Deep Breathing can also heal a small amount of damage as well. [1]

Customization

An icon for denoting incomplete things.

Customization was added in Super Smash Bros. 4. These are the two variations:

  1. Volatile Breathing: When performed correctly, creates a small explosion. This variation does not heal or power up Wii Fit Trainer's stats.
  2. Steady Breathing: When performed correctly, makes Wii Fit Trainer impervious to launching for a short amount of time. Once the effect wears off, the move has a noticeable recharge time.

Origin

The deep breathing technique is a common one used in yoga to soothe and calm a performer down. The circles that appear reflect the circles used in Wii Fit's yoga exercises, where they served as a visual guide for inhaling and exhaling during the exercises.
