King of the Mountain is the 11th event match of 51 in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

The player is pitted against two Ice Climbers with the same color scheme on Icicle Mountain and has one minute to survive without being KO'd. The movement of Icicle Mountain is random; sometimes it moves up fast, sometimes the movement is slow. Whenever a pair of Ice Climbers are KO'd, they will respawn immediately. While the player doesn't need to KO any Ice Climbers to clear the event, the amount of Ice Climbers KO'd is used for the high score of the event.

Trivia

  • When the event match begins, the timer will read 1:02. This could be a reference or coincidence relating to a stage available in the Debug menu named 10-2, which is essentially Icicle Mountain but without music.
