The editor who added this tag elaborates: Article says he's "currently considered" one of the best Pokemon Trainer players, yet I never heard of this guy being mentioned as an especially noteworthy Pokemon Trainer player in recent times, and the article's last real content editing occurred in very early 2009.

Steeler is a dedicated Pokémon Trainer Main in the Midwest region. He personally prefers to use Squirtle and Charizard through out his matches, using Ivysaur more sparingly due to the Pokémon's sub-par tether recovery. Squirtle is by far his best Pokémon, being a very powerful force against most opponents; his Charizard doing very well as well against tougher characters such as Meta Knight. He has been known to use Ivysaur for specific matchups and is rapidly increasing in skill with it. He is currently considered to be one of the best Pokémon Trainer mains, especially in the Midwest and Southwest. He places fairly high in Kansas tournaments and is still seeking success on a larger scale at the moment. Steeler is very active in the Pokémon Trainer community and is currently in charge of matchup discussions. He has no declared doubles partner, having teamed up at various times with Inferno (Team Russian Roulette), Affinity, and even a Level 9 Pikachu.

Trivia

  • The origin of Steeler's username is his love for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
  • When playing as characters other than Pokémon Trainer, Steeler is known to complain that it is unnatural that he doesn't transform into another character after losing a stock.
  • Steeler mains Pokémon Trainer due to Squirtle's inclusion as a playable character. Years before Pokémon Trainer was announced as a playable character, Steeler's number one wish for Smash Bros. roster inclusion was Squirtle.
  • Steeler once played competitive Pokémon on the Pokémon NetBattle battle simulator.
