Milestone

Notices are in every game of the Super Smash Bros. series. They show up whenever something is achieved whether it's unlocking a character or stage, or finally beating a game mode. Notices basically exclaim that the player has accomplished something and sometimes if a new stage/item/character is available. From only seven notices in the original Super Smash Bros., Brawl has hundreds.

Super Smash Bros. Melee

A notice in normal gameplay; here, the player is congratulated for unlocking Pichu.

Melee has twelve times as many notices as the previous game, bringing the total up to sixty, not including messages attained from unlocking trophies.

Two bonuses are also exclusive to the West, for unlocking the Samus Unmasked and Mario and Yoshi trophies; in Japan, the two trophies were only available in giveaways, while in the NTSC and PAL regions, the player had to hack the game to get them.

Japanese notices also include English text above the actual notice box telling players what they have received; trophies, for instance, say "Figure get!!".
