Mango is a smasher from Norwalk, California. He got his name in the 5th grade when he was playing the PC first-person shooter, Counter-Strike, and he was hungry, so he put his name as "I want Mangos", and since that day, everyone called him Mango.
He placed 3rd in Singles at Evo World 2007, defeating many of the best known professional smashers. He placed 3rd in singles at Super Champ Combo again, defeating many well-known players. In doubles, he also placed 3rd with his partner Lucky, even beating the team of Ken and Isai. He is currently ranked #1 in the SoCal Melee Power Rankings. He is very well known for playing several characters at a highly competitive level such as Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, Fox, Falco, Marth and Sheik.
On February 4, 2008, Mango won Pound 3, having beaten top professionals like Forward, Cort, PC Chris, Chu Dat, and Mew2King.
As of March 7th, he is considered one of the best active Melee players in the world, having beaten PC Chris, Chu Dat, Mew2King, and myriad other lesser smashers in the Revival Of Melee Tournament in Nanuet, New York, placing 1st.
On July 12th, 2009, Mango attended Genesis by DBR, which had 290 entrants in Melee Singles (Melee's largest tournament ever by that time), where he reached the Winner's Finals and lost 2-3 the first set against Armada, a Peach mainer regarded as the best player in Europe. After beating Hungrybox in Loser's Finals 3-0, Mango entered the Grand Finals against Armada, and had to win two sets to win the tournament. Mango won a very intense and close second set between these two 3-2, and then won the third set 3-0 to win the event.
Revival of Melee 2 caused lots of debate among the smash community, when he placed fourth losing to Kage the Warrior. However, rumors and uncertainty ended after Mango clenched 1st place in Pound 4 in both doubles and singles by beating Hungrybox 3-1 in Grand Finals. After Pound 4, Mango had been regarded by many as the world champion of SSBM.
Afterward, Mango started sandbagging in many tournaments, including receiving 25th place in Apex 2010 and receiving 17th place in Pound 5. Mango started using mostly his Mario and Captain Falcon, and thus was in danger of losing his once dominant lead in Smash.
However, he planned a revival of Genesis II and although upsetted by Taj in Winners Semis, he was able to fire through losers brackets to finally lose a close set 2-3 with Armada in Grand Finals. Afterwards Mango secured his position as champion of North America by winning Revival of Melee IV and seemed ready to take down Armada.
During Apex 2012, Mango received 3rd for being 3-0'd by Armada in Winners Finals and 3-1'd by Hungrybox in Losers Finals. Mango did, however, win Impulse, a Canadian tournament which attracted talent such as Dr. Peepee, Hungrybox, Mew2King, and KirbyKaze.
Mango is widely credited for Jigglypuff's large jump in the Melee tier list bumping her up from tied for 6th and 7th with Captain Falcon to third.
