Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
  2. You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and only take effect when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things along the lines of "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already rather long page.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half.

Round 128: Motion-Sensor Bomb vs. Gooey Bomb

Winner!!
Motion-Sensor Bomb

They both stick to terrain and explode, but one is stronger and has a three-game history (not including its original existance in the good ol' days of Rareware), while the other is on a timer and will happily stick to people as they scramble around looking for a tag. Which proximity detonation device has the bigger upside?

Votes for Motion-Sensor Bomb

  1. Hard to see when placed. 204.191.132.187 23:55, 2 March 2012 (EST)
  2. The Gooey Bomb is just weird. 123JamesHeart PatheticStickFigure.jpg 00:13, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  3. The Proximity Mine is better, no questions asked. And it works better, too. RickTommy (talk) 00:49, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  4. Motion Sensor Bomb seems to have far better knockback in my opinion. 110.174.90.69 01:34, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  5. Really? Comparing Kirby's nut with this? These things are badass. With the Gooey Bomb all you do is dodge all around randomly and you're safe, but with Motion Sensor Bombs, you don't even need its explosion to kill people, you can just throw the thing at them. Anthony1996 (talk) 04:55, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  6. Easier to go undetected. Accoolx (talk) 08:24, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  7. Ahh good old Goldeneye 007 days. ..... The Pikachu NintenNESsprite.png 11:31, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  8. The only bomb in Brawl you can't accidentally KABLAMMO by attacking it, and also CPU's don't understand the concept of jumping over the Motion-Sensor Bomb. Also, I don't get why a 14g lump of aliminium can have such knockback when thrown at someone else. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 12:40, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  9. Harder to see, and a trap for CPUs, even at the higher levels. MeleeMarth01MM01Sig.png 15:35, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  10. No competition. This is an epic item and though I only have Brawl it will not disapear as certain items do. (Bumpers, pokeballs, assistist trophies etc.)99.235.62.184 16:03, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  11. Throwing these at a wall is very deadly. Anyways these are difficult to detect if you lost track of them. Also has more power to them. One final thing, the Gooey Bomb can backfire if an opponent sticks in on you. LightningBlue: Need to Balance 17:14, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  12. These are one of my favorite bombs, because there sneaky and deadly. It's also an effective bomb (not as much as Bomb-omb though). --SSBfan1239 (talk) 18:17, 3 March 2012 (EST)

Votes for Gooey Bomb

  1. Makes matches a heck of a lot more chaotic. ;) Takava (talk) 00:30, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  2. I kinda think its more fun to run around trying to re-stick it to someone or avoid that person yourself.184.7.168.34 07:50, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  3. More fun. Plus, it's easy to avoid a Motion-Sensor Bomb, but a Gooey Bomb? NO. Meta Ike MetaIke.png 10:45, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  4. Hot potato...hot potato, hot potato... --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 17:02, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  5. I like them both, but Gooey Bomb has a Brawl In The Family comic. Ten, in fact. 68.174.11.24 17:20, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  6. Brawl in the Family FTW :) Besides, it becomes really funny when someone goes into panic mode when they find theres a sticky explosive thing attached to them Kopykirby26 (talk) 19:12, 3 March 2012 (EST)
  7. Way harder to avoid, you have to keep on moving, although, I kill my teammates too often with these...Yoshirocks341 YoshiHeadSSBB.png 09:24, 4 March 2012 (EST)

Half votes

  1. Gooey bombs make things a lot more hectic than the motion sensor bombs. It's fun sticking my enemy with a gooey bomb and running away frantically. -MILK!—Preceding unsigned comment added by MILK! (talkcontribs) 00:49, 4 March 2012

Being the 128th round, you'd think there'd be something special, something Melee-related - since the 64th round was all of the SSB64 characters, I was expecting this one to be all of the Melee characters. Could we perhaps do that next week, even if it is belated? RickTommy (talk) 00:49, 3 March 2012 (EST)

64th was due to it being for the Nintendo 64. Melee is not called Super Smash Bros. 128, is it? The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 05:07, 3 March 2012 (EST)

Even Round 64's 12 combatants was a serious stretch of the format (the page was hard to navigate through and a pain to format). Without a paradigm shift I don't intend to do a round any bigger than that. Toomai Glittershine ??? The SMASH-GINEER 09:30, 3 March 2012 (EST)

Besides, I don't think there is going to be a game named Super Smash Bros. 128 anyways. ..... The Dark Templar NintenNESsprite.png 11:37, 3 March 2012 (EST)
Certainly not all the Melee characters, but perhaps the five who didn't make it back for Brawl? Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 12:36, 3 March 2012 (EST)
You try and format a five-combatant round without skinny columns or asymmetricality. Not worth the hassle in my opinion, at least not as of this time. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Awesome 12:48, 3 March 2012 (EST)

I think RickTommy is refering to the amount of bits in the GCN system (128). I don't know this for sure. LightningBlue: Need to Balance 17:15, 3 March 2012 (EST)

Quite a lot of BitF fans in here, huh? AccoolX File:Accoolx.png 13:49, 4 March 2012 (EST)
